About the Role
We’re looking for a PowerOn Developer to design, build, and optimize custom PowerOn programs, reports, and automation within our core banking environment. You’ll work directly with IT, Operations, Lending, and Member Services teams to enhance workflows, reduce manual tasks, and support mission-critical banking operations.
Responsibilities
Core Development
Design, develop, test, and deploy PowerOn scripts, custom Symitar forms, reports, and batch programs.
Modify and extend existing PowerOn code for new product features, compliance updates, and system enhancements.
Build automation for loan processing, new accounts, cards, member communications, and internal workflows.
Systems Integration
Integrate PowerOn programs with third-party APIs, digital banking platforms, and internal systems.
Support data mappings, file transfers, and middleware components (JHA, SymXchange, SymConnect, Episys, etc.).
Data & Reporting
Develop custom reports for finance, lending, operations, and regulatory needs.
Create dashboards, data extracts, and scheduled jobs to support business analytics.
Maintain data accuracy and integrity across all systems.
Technical Support
Troubleshoot and resolve PowerOn program issues in production environments.
Assist during system upgrades, patches, and new feature rollouts.
Provide technical documentation and end-user training when needed.
Required Qualifications
2+ years experience with PowerOn programming in Symitar/Episys environment.
Strong understanding of core banking processes (loans, deposits, new accounts, cards, GL).
Experience with Symitar workflow tools: RepGen, SymForm, SymXchange, SymConnect, etc.
Proficiency with SQL, file structures, and data mapping.
Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Solid debugging, testing, and version-control habits.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with credit union or community bank IT operations.
Familiarity with API integration, ETL, batch automation, or scripting (Python, JavaScript, PowerShell).
Experience working with digital banking vendors (Q2, Alkami, NCR, Tyfone, etc.).
Knowledge of Symitar OpCon, PowerOn Manager, and batch schedulers.
Soft Skills
Strong communication and cross-department collaboration.
Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Detail-oriented, security-minded, and comfortable working in regulated environments.
