Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior PowerOn Symitar Developer to join our technology team. In this role, you will leverage your extensive experience with PowerOn scripting and the Symitar Episys platform to design, develop, and optimize custom solutions supporting critical business operations. You will serve as a technical lead, mentor junior developers, and collaborate closely with business stakeholders to drive innovation and efficiency within our core banking environment.

Key Responsibilities

PowerOn Development & CustomizationLead the design, development, and deployment of complex PowerOn scripts and batch processes within the Symitar Episys core banking platform.

• Enhance and maintain existing PowerOn applications, ensuring ongoing reliability and performance.

• Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for PowerOn development, providing architectural guidance and best practices.

• Mentor and support junior developers, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

• Collaborate with business analysts, system administrators, and end users to gather requirements, analyze workflows, and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.

• Document solution designs, technical specifications, and change management processes.

• Develop and execute test plans to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance of all PowerOn solutions.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, providing tier-3 support for escalated incidents.

• Integrate PowerOn applications with other third-party systems and interfaces as needed.

• Identify opportunities to optimize system performance and automate manual business processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Extensive PowerOn Expertise:
  

  • 5+ years of hands-on PowerOn scripting within the Symitar Episys environment.

  • Proven ability to design and implement complex PowerOn solutions and custom Symitar applications.

• Symitar Episys Mastery:
  

  • Deep understanding of Symitar Episys core system architecture, data structures, and standard modules.

• Technical Proficiency:
  

  • Advanced SQL skills and experience working with Symitar’s database.

  • Proficiency with SymConnect, SymXchange, and other Episys integration tools is a strong plus.

  • Experience with batch processing, automated job scheduling, and core system administration.

• Project & People Skills:
  

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills, with experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior staff.

• Education:
  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a credit union or financial services environment.

• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance considerations in banking/credit union systems.

• Familiarity with other Symitar/Episys customization tools (e.g., RepGen, SymForm, PowerFrame).

• Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
