Job Description
The Poynter Institute is looking for a detailed-oriented database-loving supporter of journalism to keep our growing business development and partnerships team on task, on schedule, and in line.
The opening is for a Partnerships Specialist. It has two primary responsibilities.
First, you’ll be asked to monitor and document the impact of Poynter’s work for our donors and customers. What’s that mean? You’ll work across Poynter’s teaching and programming teams to observe programs through their delivery — and deliver reports about how-it-went to funders. That will include basic logistics (who, what, where, when, etc.) and also impact measurements (attendee surveys or links to news articles inspired by our teaching or client testimonials).
Second, we need someone who can help us better collect, organize, and analyze our customer and client data through Salesforce. Poynter will teach or reach more than 100,000 people in a year, and we need someone who can help us use Salesforce to our advantage to better serve and connect with those customers. You’ll help us implement data entry best practices, build reports and dashboards, and ensure Salesforce data is up-to-date and accurate.
You’ll also manage our PayPal and Stripe accounts, handle disputes, cancellations, and other matters related to Poynter’s automated payment process for sales and donations.
The Poynter Institute is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization that has long represented the gold standard for the professional development of journalists. We help journalists improve their craft, commit to the highest ethical practices, hone career ambitions, and develop newsroom strategies. In addition to our training and development programs, Poynter is also home to The Craig Newmark Center for Ethics and Leadership, The International Fact-Checking Network, MediaWise, and PolitiFact.
We’re biased, of course, but Poynter is a great place to work.
