    We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Pre-Underwriting Specialist for our dynamic lending team. This position combines the skillset of a Pre-Approval Specialist and a Loan Officer Assistant. You will be responsible for analyzing and verifying real estate loan applications while evaluating risks for pre-approvals. The ideal candidate will have several years of mortgage underwriting and/or processing experience, understand how to do income calculations, possess a can-do attitude, and have a proven track record of providing solutions in the mortgage lending industry. Responsibilities: • Make sure that after information is collected that it is correct, compliance standards are met, and it is in alignment with company policies. • Research the applicant's employment and financial history to help determine the accuracy of the application and documents. • Examine all documents and mortgage loan applications, verifying that all necessary information is included for approval. • Document in detail the reasons for approving or rejecting a potential loan for our loan officers. • Provide quality customer service by answering questions for external and internal customers in a timely and professional manner. • Maintain a friendly and positive attitude throughout the process. • Put together loan packages and submit to the lender upon the under contract. • Adhere to all lending and regulatory guidelines and policies while preparing the loan file. • Decide the creditworthiness and complete the mortgage loan application by working with the borrower to obtain necessary and verified financial documentation, such as credit reports. Qualifications: • Experience in underwriting and/or processing is a must! • Knowledge of calculating income is required. • Analytical skills, attention to detail with high-level accuracy, and time management. • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, with exceptional etiquette and finesse. • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; can empathize and build relationships with a variety of personalities. • Takes initiative, is highly independent, and is able to work under limited supervision. • College (Bachelor’s degree) preferred; high school diploma required. • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, Loan Origination Software (LOS), and Automated Underwriting System (AUS) is an asset. • Solid knowledge of various residential mortgage loans such as FNMA, FHA, VA, USDA, and Conventional is vital -- Commercial loan and Refinance loan knowledge is helpful. • Project a professional image and collaborate with others to accomplish goals and meet demanding deadlines. Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 yearly
