    Sakonnet Early Learning Center is hiring a motivated and caring Preschool Assistant Teacher to support our Pre-K (4–5-year-old) classroom.     Position Overview

    The Preschool Assistant Teacher partners with the Lead Teacher to deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction and to support daily classroom operations. This role plays an essential part in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and confidence.

    Key Responsibilities

    Assist the Lead Teacher with daily instruction and classroom activities for Pre-K students

    Support learning experiences in literacy, math, science, STEM/STEAM, art, sensory play, and hands-on exploration

    Help implement Creative Curriculum lesson plans and thematic units

    Set up and maintain classroom learning centers and instructional materials

    Promote social-emotional learning, positive behavior, and cooperative play

    Observe and support children’s developmental progress and assist with documentation for portfolios and family communication

    Communicate with families through the center’s parent engagement application (training provided)

    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom in compliance with RIDHS child care licensing standards

    Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities while maintaining required ratios

    Provide classroom coverage and float between classrooms when needed

    Participate in team meetings, professional development, and required training

    Required & Preferred Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED required

    CDA, RIELDS coursework, or early childhood education training preferred

    Experience working with preschool-age children in a child care center, preschool, camp, or similar setting

    Strong teamwork, communication, and classroom support skills

    Patient, dependable, and enthusiastic about play-based and child-centered learning

    Comfort using digital parent communication platforms is a plus

    CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
