    ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR / LEAD ENGINEER

     

    The Motor, Resolvers and RVDT Lead Engineer is responsible for leading the design and development of electromagnetic devices for position sensing and motors (Resolvers and RVDT/LVDT's, BLDC motors) for use in the aerospace and defense markets. The position requires extensive understanding of the electromagnetic behavior and optimization of these devices.  The position will be responsible for leading a group of 3-5 engineers responsible for new product development.

     

    The Engineer will engage with customers and with internal leads and Subject Matter Experts (SME) for R&D, customer requirements development, proposals, design and development, initial prototype to production transition, and production support. This position is also responsible for assisting in the development and establishment of the position sensor product line road map as well as, defining the research and development priorities that will ensure technology leadership within the market segments targeted for future growth.

    Required Skills

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

     

    LEAD DESIGN ENGINEER – PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE 

    (Resolvers, RVDTs, LVDTs and Motors)

     

    • Development of new concepts and propose solutions
    • Development and validation of performance models, design tools and test methods
    • Perform design analysis using ANSYS, FEMM, JMag, Matlab, and other CAE tools

    Technical aptitude and in depth understanding of:

    • Variable transformers as applied to rotary and linear position sensing
    • Magnetics as applied to position sensors and BLDC motors Packaging for harsh environments, while maintaining electromagnetic performance over temperature, humidity, vibration etc.
    • Tooling and fixture design for production consistency
    • Statistical data analysis
    • Understanding of manufacturing and design trade-offs (practical implementation of designs)
    • Support cost proposal activity including manufacturing and design cost assessment Lead development efforts for customer funded projects as well as IR&D projects
    • Prepare and maintain project schedules and perform other project management tasks as required Support production lean manufacturing and product improvement initiatives

     

     

    ENGINEERING SUPERVISOR

     

    • Direct priorities of components team with input from the Design Engineering Manager
    • Ability to lead 3-5 direct reports
    • Mentorship of less experienced team members

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an aerospace, or equivalent, motion control engineering and manufacturing environment required, 5+ years’ experience preferred
    • BS Engineering, Mechanical, EE, Physics or similar required, MS or ME preferred
    • New product development experience required
    • Electromechanical design and development experience required
    • Solid understanding of aerospace and defense markets and requirements preferred
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen or be a U.S. Permanent Residence Card Holder.
