  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Create corporate, foundation and government grant proposals as well as interim and final reports. Manage grants calendar. Carry out prospect research on new funders; contact with new and existing funders; proposal budgeting; and other duties, as assigned.

    JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Missions and Core Values of Respecting and Embracing Diversity, Excellence, Collaboration, Innovation, Evolution, Growth and Change and Loving Relationships and incorporates values into daily practice.
    • Develop funder inquiries and write and submit proposals under the direction of the SVP of Advancement
    • Submit supplementary materials to complete interim and final reports.
    • Establish contacts with new and existing funders; hold person-to-person calls and meetings as appropriate.
    • Prepare research on prospective corporate, foundation, and government funders.
    • Maintain proposal calendar and tracking tools.
    • Assist with grant processing procedures.
    • Maintain donor hard files and electronic tracking systems.
    • Develop reports using Raiser’s Edge fundraising software as directed.
    • Contribute to special events and projects as part of the Advancement team.
    • Other special projects and related duties as needed

    Required Skills

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • BA Degree in English, Creative Writing or related field.

    Required Experience

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of three years grant writing experience.
    • Excellent writing and organizational skills (writing samples required).
    • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
    • Comfort in a fast-paced work environment and work under tight deadlines.
    • Ability to interact and engage with staff, funders, volunteers, and other supporters.
    • Knowledge of computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising database software.
    • Familiarity with NYC/Westchester institutional funders, healthcare funders, and long term care and governmental sources a plus.

    • BA Degree in English, Creative Writing or related field.
