MANUFACTURING TEST ENGINEER II
The Manufacturing Engineer attached to the test department is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of the methods and processes related to the manufacture and test of ion implanters. In this role you will meet day-to-day short-term objectives, resolve issues through immediate action/short term planning and lead longer term projects to achieve business objectives as well as your own career development.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Investigation and implementation of corrective action on defects found at the module and full system level. This will include mechanical, electrical or electromechanical units, assemblies, and subsystems.
- Review proposed engineering changes, prepare drawing changes on released production materials, proactively initiating design improvements.
- Lead the development of the manufacturing process in relation to test, through the implementation of LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Develop statistical process control methods to decrease test cycle time, improve margin and increase system quality.
- Transfer engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing process documentation.
- Work with design and quality engineers to ensure new products achieve established production metrics.
- Perform DFx analysis at all levels of design, identifying opportunities for assembly improvement and cost reduction.
- Attend design reviews, providing input/feedback to design teams to assure that production processes are being looked during the design phase.
- Support the implementation of smart manufacturing including leading the transition of all test related processes.
- Maintain production test equipment.
- Provide oversight and direction junior MEs and ME Techs.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with the application of statistical and analytical control methods such as SPC, SQC and DOE.
- Knowledge and ability to apply Six Sigma principles and techniques is a plus.
- Experience with 8D Quality improvement techniques.
- Proficiency with CAD solid modeling tools such as CREO or SOLIDWORKS.
- Experience with PLM system such as PTC Windchill or SmarTeam.
- Process familiarity with the assembly of complex electromechanical systems.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to instruct techs and present to management.
- Ability to travel occasionally inside the united states to support contract manufacturers
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- 2 – 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment is required
