    Job Description

    PBS STRONGLY PROMOTES COVID19 VACCINATION PROGRAMS AS EFFECTIVE ELEMENT OF OUR WORKPLACE SAFETY CULTURE

    Reporting to the VP of HR & Risk, the PBS Safety Liaison role is, in essence, our Safety Culture ambassador and the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters and a trusted consultant to our managers and their teams. In collaboration with various team leaders and outside resources, this role is tasked with ensuring that all sites are held to PBS Safety Program standards OSHA safety standards as applicable. This includes but is not limited to traveling to various sites as needed, responding to employee safety concerns, coordinating, facilitating and tracking required safety training, oversight of safety and compliance matters for operations across all designated regions/locations with a genuine mindset that promotes a safety and people first culture.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct and/or assist in safety compliance audits and communicate findings to appropriate managers
    • Deliver and/or coordinate safety trainings
    • Observe and mentor team members in safe work planning & practices across all levels of the organization
    • Accountable for organizing, leading, and documenting safety committee meetings
    • Perform investigations of incidents and drafting corrective action plans
    • Lead efforts around creating/improving safety and environmental policy and associated procedures
    • Attend internal/external safety functions/events
    • Assist/collaborate with SFI to assess compliance with safety requirements & address deficiencies
    • Maintain safety compliance and training records; brief to VPHR and other executives/teams as needed
    • Maintain incident and corrective action logs associated with incidents; discuss with the safety team/committee appropriately
    • Assist operational teams with the implementation of recommended safety measures
    • Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
    • Accountable for safety data reporting for accidents and injuries
    • Ensure that policies and procedures are followed, monitor Driver Qualification process and all CDL and non-CDL compliance program in collaboration with Logistics Managers, Fleet Managers and Clayton Transportation team as well and oversee vehicle accidents, injury investigations and reporting
    • Develop health and safety procedures for all areas of the company in collaboration with appropriate internal and external resources
    • Directly provide and or identify outsourced training opportunities for front line leaders and team members to prevent workplace accidents and injuries
    • Manage monthly safety toolbox training and safety scorecard
    • Function as company primary point of contact and administrator of safety-related and risk control programs including workers' compensation claims management, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
    • Understand and ensure OSHA, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Insurance Programs standards, and company safety policies are followed.
    • Draft inspection reports to document inspection findings.
    • Perform other duties as reasonably related to the scope of the role

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred

    • 5-8 years of relevant experience in similar role

    • CHST, ASP, CSP preferred. (certified health and safety technician, associate safety professional, certified safety professional.

    • Must be flexible to accommodate work responsibilities that may require activities to be performed according to teams shift schedules

    • Must be skillful in monitoring and adequately documenting safety behaviors, conducting audits, obtaining all required paperwork, reporting accidents and incidents in a timely fashion.

    • Proven experience and mindset around field activities and workers to ensure a safe and compliant work site.

    • Ability to assume & perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions

    • Work well with others and also be able to perform work independently.

    • Demonstrate sound judgment and credible advisory skills

    • Have knowledge of safety rules and practices and a very good safety record.

    • Effective computer skills to work efficiently across multiple applications

    • Have a history of and ability to develop a reputation of being dependable & reliable

    • Exceptional customer relations skills, and a record of very positive outlook on work challenges with a “contributor” mindset

    • Excellent time management, communication, and organization skills

    • Valid Driver's license with acceptable driving record and ability to commute to/from work and/or between work sites, offices/business locations

    • Air travel required occasionally

    • Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced, demanding environment

    • Willingness to submit to pre-employment requirements including but not limited to drug test and background checks

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • May require walking and standing up to 12 hours a day
    • Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, stretch
    • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
    • Driving, walking, and standing frequently
    • Exposure to adverse weather occasionally
    • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as adverse temperature conditions and loud machinery, which require appropriate personal protective equipment
    • Overnight travel required occasionally
