    Seeking Data Science Intern: 

    Precision Strategies seeks an innovative, analytical problem solver to join our growing data and analytics team. You are a curious and rigorous data scientist with the ability to work across a variety of datasets, applying the latest methodologies, libraries and engineering to discover data-inspired, novel solutions to some of the world's most challenging and pressing issues. You'll work side by side with analysts, database engineers, and other data scientists as well as digital marketers, designers, and political strategists as part of the New York City or Washington, D.C., data team. You will work on client business to execute social, media, digital, electoral and polling-data focused analyses designed around pressing needs from candidates, advocacy groups, non-profits, corporations, and startups. This role is focused on building and improving our data tools and platforms, maintaining our scalable architecture, deploying algorithms to process, cluster, rank, and prioritize elements of global, federal, state and local campaigns.  You'll leverage computer science, statistics, machine learning, information systems management and engineering skills to collaborate on the development of new models, automations, and data collection processes to help our clients move audiences. You will help develop a variety of infrastructure, from Jupyter Notebooks to the cloud processing of chatbot requests.  You will play a role in client presentations, brainstorming, product development, project management, and new business pitches. 

    Skills and Attributes

    • A Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Engineering, Statistics, Machine Learning, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or any other related quantitative field
    • Experience and passion for research and data analysis
    • Experience in writing Python code for a variety of applications
    • Strong critical thinking skills
    • A willingness to take on new challenges
    • A professional communicator with solid written and verbal skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Experience with the Microsoft suite and Google suite is a plus (Particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Google Slides
    • Experience with at least one of the following:
      • Data modeling, machine learning, computational linguistics, or computer vision
      • Data engineering, data architecture, or data transformation pipelines-- especially AWS services such as EC2, SageMaker, Lex, and Lambda
      • Knowledge of modern software development practices--especially Agile
      • Creating and maintaining Flask applications in Python

    Example Tasks and Responsibilities:

    • Partner with the data and analytics team to answer complex business and campaign questions for clients
    • Collaborate with other data scientists, analysts, account leaders, designers, and strategists
    • Execute analysis with minimal supervision, from data collection to analysis and documentation of insights
    • Discover patterns, themes and trends in data
    • Identify the optimal research and analytical methodologies for a given problem
    • Devise a narrative to explain results to internal and external stakeholders
    • Support development of proprietary data tools and platforms
    • Guide analysts on the best of use platform; intake and implement feature requests
    • Promote the integration of new datasets, algorithms, models, and prototypes into tools and analyses
    • Enhance and enrich the quality of datasets we use across clients such as voter files or audience segments trackers
