SUMMARY
The Estimator is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the takeoff and pricing of a variety of large and complex maritime bridge, pier, dredging and other marine structures and underwater projects as required by client’s documents, provides complete conceptual and total bid price.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates
Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
Creates job folders
Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid
Execute or directs take-offs of construction documents.
Input take-offs into HCSS database
Obtain pricing for procurement of materials
Obtains bids from subcontractors
Prepare cost analysis of material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, develop an estimate
Makes note of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database
NONESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
Maintains a document library

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
5-8 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
The computer skills needed to perform the job successfully, the individual should be proficient with estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Primavera.
