    FUNCTION:

    Facility Administrator (FA) is responsible for supervising and coordinating the smooth and effective daily operation of the Dialysis Facility in order to maintain a safe, efficient environment to provide optimum patient care. FA is also responsible to provide a teaching environment in which training and education of the patient is provided in order that he/she may carry out all necessary hemodialysis, CAPD, or CCPD functions in his/her home.

    The position is responsible for quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, staff development, business management, teamwork, culture and employee satisfaction within a dialysis unit.

    The position is responsible for understanding, supporting, interpreting and implementing the philosophy and policies of the corporation.

    Assure the direction of assigned areas in accordance and compliance with standards outlined in the facility procedure manuals, as well as regulations set forth by the company, state and federal agencies.

    REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

    Demonstrates applicable knowledge of policies and procedures related to clinical

    director, Coordinator/RN job descriptions.

    Coordinates and supervises patient care and daily operations of the dialysis facility.

    Demonstrates applicable knowledge of the policies and procedures of

    providing patient care, including the patient’s treatment, and water

    treatment facility.

    Supervises and monitors all care delivered to patients by ensuring all staff

    perform all aspects of patient care in accordance with facilities procedure

    manuals, as well as regulations set forth by the state and federal agencies.

    Demonstrates ability to work with any patient or staff regardless of race,

    gender, disease process, life-style, religious or cultural beliefs, or treatment.

    Ensures or assists in scheduling patients to maintain optimum staff to

    patient ratios in accordance with patient acuity and operational goals.

    Supervises the safe ,effective, and economical use of all equipment

    involved in direct patient care.

    Maintains a safe environment by ensuring the staff utilize proper body

    mechanics and comply with all ESRD, OSHA, Board of Health and other

    regulatory policies.

    Ensures that technicians maintain supply inventory and overall

    operational condition of reuse, water, and other equipment.

    Ensures all patient records are completed appropriately and conform to

    legal and regulatory standards.

    Supervises and assists in the performance of all emergency operational

    procedures including the evacuation of patients in the event of emergency,

    fire and/or disaster.

    Participates in inspections by regulatory agencies and follows-up with

    recommendations/improvements.

    Reports all new or unusual incidents, information, complaints, or

    problems to CEO/Medical Director/Administrator.

    using proper channels of communication.

    Responsible for approving and documenting overtime.

    Provides leadership, direction and encouragement to staff to develop professional standards.

    Communicates effectively by developing a working rapport with

    physicians, supervisors, co-workers, patients and families.

    Selects, motivates and develops clinical and office personnel. Addresses

    Human Resource issues promptly.

    Develops and facilitates activities of the multi-disciplinary team consisting of Hemo/PD Coordinators, social workers, renal dieticians, technical support and ancillary personnel to meet and/or exceed all daily operational requirements.

    Develops and participates in quality monitoring and Continuous Quality

    Improvement (CQI) programs.

    Cooperates with the unit social worker and dietician to provide maximum

    utilization of resources to meet the needs of the patient and family.

    Utilizes the performance appraisal system to motivate and develop

    employees.

    Cooperates with and supports other departments insuring effective

    interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships. These departments

    include: facilities, staff development, human resources, purchasing,

    accounting, billing and collections, systems, payroll, biomedical engineering etc.

    Delegates duties such that staff can function in the absence of the Dialysis

    Manager.

    Supervises and assists Human Resources and Staff Development in patient and staff education, acts as a resource person.

    Promotes positive customer relations in daily contacts with physicians, visitors, hospitals, referral sources, patient’s and employees.

    Responsible for budgetary preparation, justification and performance. Manages

    staffing mix and patient scheduling to optimize patient outcomes and labor expense control.

    Assumes responsibility and utilizes opportunities for personal and professional growth.

    Promotes, supports, and adheres to all policies outlined in the Employee

    Handbook.

    Seeks resources for direction, when necessary.

    Completes clinical and corporate training program(s) to successfully

    master ESRD patient care for hemodialysis, PD, management and

    business skills, leadership development, and gain confidence in listening

    and communication skills.

    Acquires information on the latest developments of dialysis technique by

    participating in scheduled in-service classes, and maintaining nephrology

    certification.

    Performs additional duties, and is responsible for specific projects according to ability and experience to keep the unit functioning as efficiently as possible.

    MACHINES, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS:

    Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of all hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and related ancillary and emergency equipment utilized in the facility such as: reuse equipment, water treatment, facilities, acid and bicarbonate preparation, microbiological maintenance procedures, computer, sphygmomanometer, manual conductivity meters, glucometer, hemodialysis machines, PD cyclers, centrifuge, EKG machines, scales, IV infusion pump, code cart, suction machine, electronic thermometers, oxygen administration equipment, and personal protective equipment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Desk duties, including computer keyboard operations.

    Moderate active work; including occasional lifting and carrying; walking and standing for considerable lengths of time, ability to perform patient care.

    Talking and listening to communicate ideas or requirements to individual staff members, and effectively educate patients and staff.

    Visual acuity to prepare and read written material accurately.

    Audio acuity to listen attentively and accurately.

    Ability to push, pull, mobilize (with assistance of wheels, carts, and other equipment) approximately 200 lbs.

    Ability to work overtime as needed to complete general responsibilities.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Because of the risk of Exposure to potentially hazardous/infectious materials, observing and complying with safety regulations/requirements or RVM and governmental agencies is considered essential.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Current active RN state licensure.

    Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (Baccalaureate degree in nursing or health related field preferred).

    Minimum of 1 years experience in general nursing care plus a minimum of six months of dialysis experience and if for a home training center 3 months of which in a specific dialysis self-training activity as applicable.

    Prior supervisory and/or management experience preferred.

    Certification in Nephrology Nursing preferred.

    Excellent knowledge of water systems, bypass, and emergency water system procedures preferred.

    ICU/CCU experience desirable.

    Excellent interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and general management skills.

    Successful completion of training course in theory and practice of hemodialysis.

    Valid driver’s license and insurance when using automobile to travel for business purposes, ability to travel.

    Computer knowledge preferred.

    Demonstrates reliability, good work habits, and emotional maturity.

    Maintenance of current CPR Healthcare Recognition according to the American Heart Association.

    Maintains a telephone and able to be contacted at home outside of normal business operations.

    Possesses reliable transportation.
