    Position: Nutrition AssistantLocation: North Florida Regional Medical Center

    Hours : 12:30-8:30pm Monday-Sunday or 8am - 8pm

    Nutrition Assistant Job Summary: Provides nutrition and hospitality service to assigned patients, including solicitation of preferences, processing and maintaining patient diet orders, resolves any food and nutrition related issues, and completes tray passing and pick up for assigned patients daily. Receives and documents patient information in accordance with the facility requirements in the computer system. Creates and provides meal tickets, production sheets, and relays any additional information as needed throughout the department.

    Nutrition Assistant JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES (Including age specific duties):

    1. Visits assigned patients to obtain food preferences, following patient safety protocol to assure identity; records information in Computrition. Follows up with patients, nurses, family members, and dietitians to obtain/share information needed to assure satisfaction, while protecting confidentiality of all patient information obtained.2. Receives computerized orders for diets, tube feedings, calorie counts, food/drug interaction, from Meditech and enters into the Computrition system if it does not interface directly. Prints meal tickets for assigned patients prior to each meal service; assures tickets comply with the prescribed diet orders by checking ticket, screening meal patterns/fluid restrictions. Prints and provides daily production reports, including any special orders. Records number of trays served in the log on a daily basis.3. Delivers trays to patients while making sure that patient identity is accurate and that their expectation and food service needs are met. Picks up trays from patient and returns delivery cart to kitchen for timely processing of soiled trays. Delivers between meal feedings, snacks and other foods to patients as requested, consistent with diet order and department policy.4. Serves as a positive liaison between Food and Nutrition Services, patients, and other hospitaldepartments as well as the community.5. Demonstrates basic knowledge of therapeutic diets and always uses as a reference the approved diet manual.6. Maintains office and computer equipment in working order. Recognizes hardware andsoftware problems and follows established procedures to troubleshoot, document andcontact appropriate support to resolve issues.7. Assists in data collection for departmental performance improvement projects.8. Answers telephone in a professional, courteous and pleasant manner, identifying department, self and with proper scripting.9. Reports any patient having difficulty with meals or who may need diet counseling to the RD or Diet Tech.

    Pediatric1. Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific factors and performs satisfactorily when assisting the parents of infants or pediatric patients with menu selections. Possess communication skills necessary to refer age specific questions to appropriate area.Adolescent1.
