Job Description

Growing privately held flexible packaging company with a rich 50+ year history of innovation seeks a Technical Director.  The Technical Director oversees and coordinates the development of products, evaluates and makes recommendations on the purchase of extrusion equipment and technology, Reviews and identifies extrusion processing parameters, and directs and manages the Quality department. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Designated backup for SQF Practitioner (Quality Manager)
• Works directly with raw material producers to identify and test raw materials
• Works directly with extrusion equipment manufacturers to identify and investigate new opportunities 
• Works directly with customers to understand functionality of existing products and identify potential opportunities to improve or develop new products
• Works with Production and oversees all product and raw material trials 
• Works closely with sales and marketing to establish strategy, goals and objectives
• Communicates directly to senior management on activities, progress and results
• Oversees and supervises Quality department and lab
• Works directly with SQF registrar to assure company maintains registration
• Establish audit programs with suppliers, works closely with suppliers to develop products and specifications
• Oversees Management review meetings
• Works directly with Production to establish extrusion process parameters and consult on process related issues

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science
• 5+ years experience working with extruded films/flexible packaging
• Multi-tasker comfortable switching gears quickly and often
• Strong quality background
• Successful new product development examples
