We're hiring an experienced Prep Cook to join the team at Gustav's! In this role, you'll help bring our classic, scratch-made German dishes to life by preparing and cooking a variety of high-quality menu items.
You're passionate about great food and take pride in crafting exceptional dining experiences. With prior prep cook experience, you’re skilled at juggling multiple tasks, staying organized, and supporting a positive, team-oriented kitchen environment. We’re especially interested in candidates looking to grow within our culinary team.
Our ideal team member has strong attention to detail, solid knife skills, and the ability to manage several prep projects at once. You keep a clean and organized walk-in and help maintain those standards across the team. You're also diligent about tracking waste and proactively alert managers to any concerns in the waste log.

Summary of Position:
Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List.
Duties & Responsibilites:
Complete opening and closing checklists.
Refer to Daily Prep List and Checklists at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations.
Assists others in closing the kitchen.
Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Kitchen Manager.
Inform Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages.
Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products.
Do not rely on the memory of yourself or other employees. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager, Chef or manager-on-duty.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a prep cook preferred.
Have working knowledge of the predominant language(s) of our guests.
Attention for detail
Teachable.
Food Handler’s certification (or must be willing to attain)
Effective communication skills
Ability to lift 30+ lbs
Ability to work standing for 8+ hours
