    Job Summary We are seeking a Prep. and cook assistant to join the team at our busy restaurant. In this position, you will be responsible for using high-quality ingredients to prepare delicious Italian dishes including pizza for our customers.     Duties and Responsibilities:

    A prep cook prepares ingredients and workstations for the line cooks and chefs, ensuring efficient kitchen operations. Responsibilities include washing, chopping, and portioning food, following recipes, maintaining food safety standards, and cleaning work areas. They often start early to prepare for peak hours, requiring strong knife skills and the ability to lift heavy items. Key Responsibilities

    Ingredient Prep: Wash, peel, chop, dice, and slice vegetables; cut and portion meats, poultry, and seafood.

    Station Setup: Prepare workstations with all necessary ingredients and equipment before service.

    Basic Cooking: Prepare simple dishes, sauces, stocks, and soups, or handle basic cooking tasks like reducing sauces or parboiling. Food Storage: Label, date, and properly store food products in refrigerators or freezers. Sanitation: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workspace, following health department regulations. Cleaning dishes and utensils must be part of duties. Kitchen Support: Unload food deliveries, restock, and assist other kitchen staff.

    Qualifications:

    Previous experience in a similar role is preferred

    ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification

    Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes

    Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure

    Excellent time management skills

    Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 40 pounds
