    Job description:

    The Primrose School of Chantilly is looking for a full-time Chef / Food Services Manager to work at our preschool in Chantilly, VA - conveniently located near Highway 28, Route 50 and Centreville Road. Hours to be worked are: 7.00am-4.30pm Mon-Fri.

    Main responsibilities include:

    Preparing healthy family-style meals from our pre-defined menus and delivering to classrooms in a timely manner

    Understanding and adhering to all food safety procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules

    Required skills and qualifications:

    Must have ServSafe certification or be willing to get certified

    Minimum experience required, but willing to love to prepare food and work in the kitchen, working within a budget, and creating healthy, delicious, easy meals for children per menu.

    Minimal English needed, but must be able to understand and read English

    Must be able to drive a small school Bus

    An energetic team player

    High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Maintains a keen awareness of children who have allergies and food restrictions. Offers substitute items to children who may be allergic or have other food restrictions

    Ensures food service area and food is free of nuts, nut products, or food items that have been processed in a facility that also processes nut products according to the policies and procedures of the Primrose School of Chantilly. Checks all food labels upon receipt to ensure compliance with this requirement

    Follows the daily menu prepared in collaboration with or by the Director

    Follows portion control standards for lunch and snacks in preparation

    Is adaptable and implements changes in menus, if instructed to do so

    Ensures that each meal is ready to be served when scheduled

    Assists with ordering food and is able to calculate the amount needed

    Maintains an orderly, clean, and safe kitchen area at all times, including the proper maintenance of equipment

    Attends all required staff meetings, workshops, and/or school functions

    Maintains overall professional personal appearance, adhering to the guidelines offered in the Primrose School of Chantilly Employee Handbook

    Assists in other capacities that the Director, or designee, determines is necessary

    Steps into classrooms when necessary

    Must be available 7am-3pm
