Open Space Early Learning Center is currently hiring for a Classroom Assistant/Kitchen Support position! Classroom Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Assist in classrooms as outlined in the Daily Schedule
Remain flexible in classroom assignments in order to maintain the safety of all students
Assist staff with both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
Provide breaks and lunches for classroom teachers
Assist in all areas of daily center activities, including meal preparation and serving
Meeting the individual needs of every child by interacting with them to encourage and support play, exploration, and learning
Collaborating with families to create inclusive and culturally relevant classroom and curriculum
Providing a fun, welcoming, warm and safe classroom environment
Professional daily interactions and active communication with children, co-workers, and parents.
Meeting and following requirements of all licensing agencies
Kitchen Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Meeting and following requirements as of all licensing agencies.
Serving all meals, including breakfast, lunch, snack, being especially mindful of allergies
Is aware of daily attendance when making food and working independently to ensure that all meals are served on time
Responsible for ordering all meals, and meal related items
Maintaining a working professional relationship with food vendors
Maintaining records of food allergies, and ensuring classrooms have knowledge of food allergens
Organizes the foodservice environment and takes responsibility for maintaining it, including general upkeep.
Maintains proper sanitation in the kitchen, common areas, janitorial closet, and storage areas
Keeps food and cleaning supply inventory in proper amounts (including paper towels, gloves, and hand soap)
Remain in compliance with DCFS and The Chicago Department of Public Health sanitation standards while prepping fun and healthy snacks and meals that are catered in.
Qualifications
American Heart Association or Red Cross CPR & First Aid training
New Illinois Food Handler or Food Manager's License
Current Gateways Membership
Inccrra Training: Sudden Infant Death
Inccrra Training: Shaken Baby Syndrome
Inccrra Training: Trauma Informed Practice
Mandated Reporter Training
Physical within last 6 months
Proof of TB Test, TDAP, and 2 Doses of MMR and immunization
Proof of a completed primary series of Covid-19 vaccination
3 letters of recommendation
Proof of Education -- Official Transcripts or HS Diploma
Personnel will have a fingerprinting and/or criminal investigation report completed
