Position Summary: We are seeking a dependable and caring Preschool Cook to prepare nutritious, child-friendly meals for our daycare/preschool community. This role is essential in supporting the health and well-being of young children by ensuring meals are safe, balanced, and prepared in accordance with North Carolina sanitation and childcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks for the entire school in a timely manner
Plan and follow approved menus that meet nutritional guidelines for young children
Adhere strictly to North Carolina sanitation, food safety, and childcare licensing requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment at all times
Monitor food inventory and manage food orders, ensuring adequate supplies are available
Properly store food and label items according to safety standards
Accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions with care and attention
Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to support daily schedules and special events
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
Communicate effectively with team members regarding kitchen needs and concerns
Supervise and document food temperatures and safety logs as required
Dish washing, cleaning, and general kitchen upkeep
Be flexible in assisting with bathroom breaks or lunch breaks for staff as needed
Ensure compliance with all health inspections and licensing visits
Qualifications:
Previous experience in food service, childcare, or institutional cooking preferred
Knowledge of basic nutrition and food safety practices
Familiarity with North Carolina sanitation and childcare regulations (or willingness to learn)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Positive attitude and genuine care for children’s well-being
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
Comfortable working in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures
