Position Overview

The Kitchen Assistant supports the Preschool Chef in preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks. This role helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen while ensuring food is prepared and served according to health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily

Wash, cut, and prepare fruits, vegetables, and other food items

Follow CACFP guidelines and all health and safety regulations

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen surfaces, equipment, and dishes

Support proper food storage, labeling, and organization

Assist with meal portioning and delivery to classrooms

Follow allergy protocols and dietary restrictions carefully

Help with receiving and organizing food deliveries

Support the Chef with special events and school activities

Qualifications

Experience in a kitchen, childcare, or food service setting preferred but not required

Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices

Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team

Strong attention to detail and organization skills

Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Dependable, positive, and team-oriented

A genuine passion for working in an environment with young children

Preferred Backgrounds

School or daycare kitchen assistant

Food service or hospitality experience

Experience in cleaning and sanitation roles
