Job Description:
We are seeking patient, attentive, and caring professionals to teach in our preschool classroom. Students will range from ages 3 to 5 years of age. Preschool teachers will foster and help the students enjoy the learning process, expand their curiosity, and affirm and develop their personalities. Teachers will monitor their health, behavioral, and emotional concerns, providing them with age-appropriate instruction, and working with parents to ensure that children are learning and socializing in a positive way. They may also assist with sterilizing toys and play areas and other duties to ensure that the children are in a safe, engaging, and clean environment.
Ajax Cubs provides care for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years old. Our program consists of two pre-school rooms, a toddler room, and an infant room. We are located in Aspen, CO and are ideally situated to take advantage of our natural surroundings and provide a one-of-a-kind experience to our students. Ajax Cubs’ initial classrooms will open in January 2023, so as a new organization, we are seeking candidates who relish the opportunity to help create a program that will have a meaningful and lasting impact on the community.
Responsibilities
Providing care for children, such as setting schedules and routines, grooming, feeding, and cleaning rooms and toys.
Developing and encouraging age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts, such as communication, manners, sharing, etc.
Maintaining a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues and reporting concerns to staff and parents.
Helping children discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies.
Ensuring children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed.
Preparing children to enter the next level of care or for entry into school.
Keeping records relating to child care.
Working with parents to help children progress towards educational and behavioral goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and state teaching certification
Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
Problem-solving and mediation skills
