Job Summary We are seeking an energetic and experienced Preschool Teacher to join our team! You will be leading a class of students through the school year, assessing their current academic level, and designing instruction to meet students’ collective and individual needs. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with Early Head Start and Head Start program expectations.
You are passionate about learning and helping students reach their potential. With strong creative and problem-solving skills, you love connecting with individual students and creating an engaging classroom environment.
Responsibilities
Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons for children
Incorporate Head Start‑aligned practices, including individualized learning
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
Observe, assess, and document children’s developmental progress
Build strong relationships with families and communicate regularly
Follow DCFS licensing standards and center policies
Collaborate with staff and participate in professional development
Support social‑emotional learning through positive guidance
Assess student's skills and performance to ensure they are meeting developmental milestones
Qualifications
Must meet Illinois DCFS Teacher Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field with ECE coursework)
OR CDA with relevant experience
Familiarity with Early Head Start and/or Head Start programs
1–2 years of experience in a licensed early childhood setting
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
Problem-solving and mediation skills
Preferred
Experience in a preschool or Head Start classroom
Experience in a childcare environment
Knowledge of Creative Curriculum or Teaching Strategies
