Competencies: An Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA preferred. A high school diploma or G.E.D. accepted. Experience with young children in a group setting. Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience as a Teacher, an Aide or Assistant in a preschool classroom. Must pass a criminal background check and a CANIS Search (Child Protective Services); Must have demonstrated ability to communicate well in speech and in writing, having demonstrated appropriate discretion in confidential matters.

Responsibilities (Include but not limited to): Maintaining a well-managed, healthy and safe learning environment for children. This includes: Assisting with toilet-training, if needed; Plan activities, which will encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotional, social, cognitive and physical development; Be responsible for the arrangement and learning environment in the classroom; Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children, their families and staff; Supervise the classroom according to the Weekly Lesson Plan; Maintain knowledge of first aid and CPR as required by VDOE; Provide a safe and stimulating environment for the age group assigned; and Adhere to all local, state and federal licensing guidelines.

Work Time: Hours to be scheduled during program hours: 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
