Preschool Teacher Job Description
Position Title: Full-Time Preschool Teacher – Dual Language Program Location: Provider School for North Plainfield School District Job Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a high-quality dual language preschool program that supports the academic, social, emotional, and developmental growth of young children using Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold. The teacher will create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment aligned with New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards and the expectations of the provider school partnership with the North Plainfield School District.
Essential Responsibilities
Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in a dual language preschool classroom.
Foster language development in both English and the target language through daily instruction and classroom interactions.
Create a nurturing, culturally responsive, and engaging learning environment.
Implement curriculum aligned with district and state preschool standards.
Observe, assess, and document student progress using approved assessment tools.
Maintain accurate student records, lesson plans, and developmental portfolios.
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, classroom activities, and developmental goals.
Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, child study teams, and support staff.
Support students’ social-emotional development and positive behavior using appropriate classroom management strategies.
Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district-required trainings.
Ensure classroom health, safety, and licensing compliance at all times.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required.
New Jersey Preschool through Grade 3 (P-3) Certification required or eligible (CE).
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
Experience working in preschool or early childhood settings preferred.
Knowledge of dual language instructional practices and early childhood development preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to supervise and actively engage with preschool-aged children throughout the school day.
Ability to participate in classroom activities, including sitting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
