    Role Summary

The Kensington School is looking for a dependable, organized, and child-centered Preschool Teacher Support & Family Services Coordinator. This is a hands-on role that combines classroom support, teacher mentoring, parent communication, front-office support, and daily operational follow-through.

The right person will be comfortable helping in the office, supporting classrooms, observing teacher-child interactions, reinforcing classroom systems, and helping teachers improve routines, transitions, supervision, positive guidance, and classroom management.

This is not a desk-only position. The person in this role must be able to move between the front office and classrooms, notice what needs attention, communicate professionally with families and staff, and follow through without repeated reminders.

    Key Responsibilities

Teacher Support, Coaching & Classroom Monitoring

Observe classrooms and help teachers improve routines, transitions, spacing, supervision, and positive guidance.

Support teachers with student engagement, classroom management, and implementation of school expectations.

Give brief, professional feedback to teachers and communicate larger concerns to leadership.

Help ensure classrooms are calm, safe, organized, and consistent with school policies.

Step into classrooms to cover short staffing gaps when needed.

Support diaper changes, sanitation, and practical classroom needs as assigned.

Leave clear written notes when supporting a classroom or following up on a concern.

    Family Services & Parent Communication

Greet families and visitors with a warm, professional presence.

Support parent communication, including routine questions, reminders, and follow-ups.

Relay information between teachers, parents, and leadership clearly and professionally.

Help protect the confidentiality of student, staff, and family information.

Help with tours, community events, and follow-up communication as assigned.

Escalate parent concerns to leadership appropriately and professionally.

    Front Office & Daily Operations

Answer phones and help maintain a smooth, organized front-office environment.

Help manage lobby flow, authorized pickups, ID checks, and daily communication.

Support arrival, dismissal, and student transitions, including headcounts and rosters.

Help track daily student/staff absences and communicate schedule impacts.

Assist with staff coverage needs in coordination with the Director.

Maintain organized records, checklists, files, and follow-up systems.

    Enrollment, Records & Compliance Support

Help ensure new-student files are complete before the first day.

Assist with immunization updates, doctor notes, training records, and staff file organization.

Support recordkeeping systems so required documents are accurate, complete, and easy to find.

Follow school procedures and licensing-related expectations.

    Meals, Supplies & Sanitation

Support snack inventory, lunch/snack logistics, and allergy-related procedures.

Help maintain clean, organized, and safe school spaces.

Complete sanitation tasks using PPE and checklists when assigned.

    Transportation / After-School Pickups

Drive the daycare van when scheduled, if qualified and trained.

Maintain accurate headcounts, rosters, and communication during transportation.

    Must-Haves

1–2+ years of experience in early childhood, preschool, childcare, school office, or a classroom support role.

Strong attendance, punctuality, and reliable transportation.

Calm, friendly, confident presence with children, parents, and teachers.

Ability to support, mentor, and redirect teachers professionally.

Proven classroom management and positive behavior guidance experience.

    Strong written and verbal communication.

Ability to complete tasks accurately and follow through without repeated reminders.

Comfortable helping with sanitation tasks, diapering support, and classroom needs.

Able to lift approximately 35 lbs and move throughout the school during the day.

Valid driver’s license and comfort driving a passenger van, or willingness to be trained if eligible.

Basic computer skills; willingness to learn Procare, Google Workspace, and internal systems.

    Nice-to-Haves

CDA, AA, BA, or coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or a related field.

    Bilingual English/Spanish.

Experience mentoring teachers, leading a classroom, or supporting school operations.

Who Will Do Well in This Role

You may be a strong fit if you are dependable, observant, organized, and comfortable supporting both children and adults. We are looking for someone who notices problems, communicates early, follows through, and helps create a calm, safe, professional school environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both classroom interaction and administrative work, and who wants to grow into a stronger school operations and teacher-support role over time.
