    Job Summary The Lead Pre-K Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered classroom where children ages 4–5 develop academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually in preparation for kindergarten. This position provides leadership within the classroom, ensures licensing compliance, communicates professionally with families, and models The Midwest Playhouse's mission and values.

    Responsibilities

    Classroom Leadership

    Lead daily classroom routines and maintain a structured, engaging learning environment.

    Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with Missouri Early Learning Standards.

    Prepare children for kindergarten through hands-on learning and play-based instruction.

    Foster independence, confidence, problem-solving, and positive social skills.

    Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and readiness each day.

    Maintain active supervision at all times.

    Follow all Missouri licensing regulations and center policies.

    Conduct daily health checks.

    Ensure classroom ratios are maintained.

    Respond appropriately to accidents, injuries, and emergencies.

    Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.

    Playground App Requirements

    Responsible for maintaining accurate daily documentation, including:

    Minimum Daily Entries

    5–7 quality photos per child

    1 video per child whenever possible

    Meals and snacks documented

    Nap/rest time documented

    Daily note completed before dismissal

    Documentation should reflect meaningful learning experiences rather than simply recording attendance.

    Parent Communication

    Build positive relationships with families.

    Greet families warmly at arrival and dismissal.

    Communicate daily through the Playground App.

    Notify administration promptly of concerns.

    Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

    Classroom Management

    Use positive guidance techniques.

    Redirect challenging behaviors respectfully.

    Support children's emotional regulation.

    Model kindness, patience, and respect.

    Encourage problem-solving and conflict resolution.

    Team Leadership

    Lead and mentor assistant teachers.

    Delegate classroom responsibilities effectively.

    Model professionalism and teamwork.

    Assist with onboarding and supporting new staff.

    Participate in staff meetings and training.

    Licensing & Professional Development

    Must:

    Maintain current CPR & First Aid Certification.

    Complete all Missouri licensing-required annual training.

    Complete required background screenings.

    Maintain Safe Sleep certification if required.

    Attend all mandatory staff meetings and professional development sessions.

    Qualifications

    CDA, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (or willingness to obtain required credentials).

    Experience leading a preschool or Pre-K classroom.

    Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

    Passion for early childhood education and faith-based learning.

    Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
