    Our team collectively generates over $200 million in annual secondary market activity, working with elite collectors on transactions typically exceeding $1 million.

    Position Overview

    The President of Level & Co works closely with the executive team at Masterworks and serves as the strategic and operational leader of the gallery. This role combines key relationship management with sophisticated deal-making and team leadership to drive significant transactions in the blue-chip secondary art market.

    Our ideal candidate brings strong leadership and deal-making experience from an auction house, gallery, or high-growth fine art company, thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments, and is motivated by combining a passion for art with thoughtful and data-driven deal-making.

    Key Responsibilities

    Collector Relations & Business Development

    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with the top 250 collectors
    • Act as primary relationship manager for the gallery's top collectors
    • Facilitate high-value brokerage transactions, typically over $1 million, based on proprietary deal flow and opportunities sourced through the Masterworks acquisitions team
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the ultra-high-net-worth collector community
    • Navigate complex negotiations and serve as a trusted advisor to collectors on acquisition and disposition strategies

    Sales & Inventory Management

    • Leverage access to +$1.5 billion in Masterworks inventory across 500 paintings spanning Abstract Expressionism, Neo-Expressionism, and 21st-century masters
    • Develop strategic approaches to positioning and selling exceptional works from the Masterworks collection
    • Collaborate closely with the Masterworks acquisitions team to align on inventory strategy, pricing, and market opportunities
    • Identify optimal market timing and buyer matching for high-value works

    Leadership & Team Management

    • Lead and mentor a team ofspecialists
    • Set ambitious performance goals and drive accountability across the team
    • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for all gallery activities
    • Uphold a culture of excellence, accountability, clear metric tracking, and productivity management.
    • Set and own revenue targets and track to monthly business goals

    Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence

    • Develop and execute the gallery's business strategy in alignment with Masterworks' broader objectives
    • Monitor market trends, auction results, and competitive landscape in the Post-War and Contemporary secondary market
    • Maintain deep knowledge of the Abstract Expressionism to 21st-century masters market segments
    • Report regularly to the CEO of Masterworks on performance, market insights, and strategic initiatives

    Qualifications

    • 10+ years of experience in the fine art market, with deep expertise in Post-War and Contemporary art from Abstract Expressionism through 21st-century masters
    • Track record of success in a gallery or auction house
    • Proven track record of closing transactions over $1 million with elite collectors
    • Extensive relationships within the "top 500" collector community
    • Demonstrated success in brokering significant secondary market art transactions
    • Strong leadership experience, including managing sales or specialist teams
    • Exceptional discretion and ability to handle confidential, high-stakes negotiations
    • Deep market knowledge and established credibility within the Post-War and Contemporary art world
    • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in art history, business, or related field strongly preferred
