      Job Description -

      Assists ERCOT attorneys by supporting Corporate Governance functions, including Board of Directors and Committee meetings and ERCOT Membership processes, preparing legal documents and reports, and performing basic factual or legal research. Prepares legal documents for filing with the Public Utility Commission of Texas and other government agencies and courts, including comments on proposed rules, pleadings, motions, letters, briefs, and other documents. Analyzes agency and state and federal rules of procedure to ensure legal documents are correctly and timely filed. Calculates and calendars deadlines for procedural and regulatory filings.

      General Candidate Description

      Must be proficient in using Public Utility Commission filing rules and systems

      Must be opening to learning ERCOT policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks and expand skills.

      Must be comfortable working on assignments that are often routine in nature while maintaining a high rate of accuracy.

      Must exercise sound judgment in resolving problems and issues while recognizing the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.

      Must be capable of working under short deadlines on occasion

      Must have great attention to detail

      Must be comfortable working as part of a paralegal team, with each team member learning other job functions to enable greater flexibility for the group

      ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

      Provides support and assistance to governance attorneys, regulatory attorneys, Board directors, and executives

      Assists with preparation of Board and Committee meeting agenda and materials, as needed

      Attends and participates in Board and Committee meetings

      Prepares administrative filings, pleadings, and other legal documents

      Files legal documents with state and federal agencies and courts

      Monitors and responds to inquiries regarding ERCOT’s Membership application process

      Process and track ERCOT Membership applications

      Communicates with ERCOT attorneys and employees regarding the developments and status of monitored proceedings and required filings

      Manages complex procedural requirements – including interpretation of legal procedure, case file management, protecting confidential information and ensuring timely compliance with legal filing requirements

      Assists with managing and organizing Legal department records in accordance with ERCOT Information Governance policies

      Performs factual and legislative research

      Coordinates and may lead internal meetings as required

      EXPERIENCE

      Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements

      EDUCATION

      High School Diploma or GED (Required)

      Associate's Degree (Preferred)

      Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

      or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to the above credentials is required

      CERTIFICATION

      Paralegal Certification (Required)

      WORK LOCATION

      This position is Hybrid. Employees will be required to be on-site in Austin, TX at least twice per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management

      On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager

      Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence

      Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time
