    Program Description: The Manufacturing Engineering Manager provides oversight and tasking responsibilities to the project engineers. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager also acts a subject matter expert on all items associated with engineering principals and fundamentals with a concentration in manufacturing and industrial engineering. This person would be a higher-level contact for engineering disciplines involved in a project.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide guidance and support to manufacturing engineering team

    Leads Manufacturing Engineering Department

    • Responsible for specifying, purchasing, designing, qualifying, and documenting manufacturing systems and production equipment.
    • Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce risk and improve efficiencies.
    • Generate logging system for open process improvement items.
    • Generate workflow diagram for manufacturing activities and labor tracking.
    • Institute new processes and technologies to the organization ensuring requirements for EHS and cGMP compliance.
    • Manage the interface between Sales Engineering (voice of customer), Project Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure processes are repeatable, efficient, and utilize industry best practices.
    • Identify and lead change of MOCs and manufacturing processes to deliver continuous improvements.
    • Lead in the training and coaching manufacturing engineers to ensure technical and personal objectives are achieved within agreed time frames.
    • Ensure best practice operating methods are deployed and assist in resolving operational problems such as deviations, NCs, CAPAs, etc.
    • Take the lead in investigating and resolving events that arise from compliance issues.
    • Develop and maintain company documentation as related to the company QMS.
    • Take part in training and work with industry experts to maintain a broad knowledge of the technology and regulatory issues that impact the biopharmaceutical industry.
    • Promote World Class Manufacturing Concepts such as Industry 4.0 and Remote Condition Monitoring into new and existing assets.
    • Manage costs effectively to ensure overall success of the department.
    • Project management of all aspects of industrial projects in order to meet production timelines and goals ie, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, and Structural

    Leads POD Improvement Efforts

    • Leads collaboration with internal and external engineering resources to reduce the cost and complexity of manufacturing PODs.
    • Maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
    • Enforces the use and maintenance of an organized file system for production drawings
    • Communicates with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Manufacturing team leads to resource plan activities
    • Initiates design changes to improve process or product performance and quality, or decrease costs
    • Works closely with Marketing and Design in establishing cost trade-offs.
    • Leads cross functional teams for lean improvement projects.
    • Develops and leads test protocols to evaluate research & development efforts.
    • Creates and reviews company Standard Operating Procedures

    Leads Engineers in Preliminary Product Draft, Design and Design Evaluations

    • Teaches others to utilize computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software, such as AutoCAD and Revit, to develop designs/layouts, elevations, and realistic renderings.
    • Leads and upholds revision practices to production drawings.
    • Makes drafts and assists in the final sketch of proposed drawings, checking dimension of parts, the relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
    • Assists engineers with POD specific details in drawing finished designs from sketches.
    • Prepare presentations to illustrate company capabilities

    Position Specifications

    Education and/or Experience:
     
    A Bachelor's Degree that meets the following conditions: Degree in Engineering which has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET)

    • All international applicants must show English language proficiency by meeting one of the following requirements below:
      ? International English Language Testing System (IELTS) band score of 7.0 or higher
      ? The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 95 on internet-based examination
    • Minimum of 5 years Practicing the fundamentals of engineering.
    • Advanced Knowledge in design for manufacturability
    • Advanced Knowledge in Lean manufacturing initiatives
    • Advanced Skill in basic computer functions such as word processors, spreadsheets, and internet usage
    • Advanced Skills and knowledge in using computer-aided design systems and engineering software
    • Advanced Knowledge and ability to read and use technical drawings
    • Advanced Skill in documentation and attention to detail
    • Advanced LEAN/6 SIGMA / Process Improvement Methodology

    Language Abilities:

    Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and workplace policies. Ability to analyze, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to analyze and interpret technical research journals. Ability to write professional correspondences. Ability to present information in small group and large group situations to customer, strategic business partners, the public, and other employees. Ability to effectively present information to administrators, management, and other employees.
