    Position Overview

    CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive medical services at a federal correctional institution in Cumberland, Maryland. FCI Cumberland is a medium-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp, located approximately 2.5 hours west of Baltimore in western Maryland. You will manage acute and chronic conditions, conduct intake health screenings, and oversee preventive care programs for the inmate population under Bureau of Prisons healthcare standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, sick call assessments, and chronic care visits
    • Manage chronic disease programs per BOP clinical practice guidelines
    • Perform intake physical examinations and develop treatment plans
    • Order and interpret diagnostic studies
    • Prescribe medications within BOP formulary guidelines
    • Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate hospital transfers
    • Maintain clinical documentation in the BOP electronic health record
    • Participate in quality improvement and infection control committees

    Required Qualifications

    • MD or DO
    • Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
    • Active, unrestricted Maryland medical license (or ability to obtain)
    • Active DEA registration
    • Current BLS and ACLS certification
    • U.S. citizenship required
    • Ability to pass federal background investigation

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Correctional medicine or community health experience
    • BOP Health Services Division familiarity

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Salary: $230,000 - $295,000 annually
