    Job Description

    The SPED Teacher's role will be to create a supportive learning environment in which students can meet their learning goals. Through interesting and diverse methods, successful strategies to reach IEP goals, and access grade-level curriculum. They oversee student progress by tracking assignment and exam grades in order to provide useful feedback. WCPA teachers are results-driven educators with experience in and commitment to standards-based curricula and the use of data and assessments to drive instructional decisions.

    ** Working Conditions:**

    • Environment: School environment; fast-paced work, constant interruptions.
    • Physical requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information, make presentations and communicate over the telephone; seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents and view computer monitors; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; kneeling, bending at the waist, and reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, to retrieve and store files and supplies; lifting light objects; ability to go to sites apart from primary office to conduct busines.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • A California Education Specialist Credential (mild/mod); PIP/STSP/waivers will be considered.
    • Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn SIRAS, IEP writing, and Special Ed Reporting Software
    • Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn RTI, co-teaching, collaboration, Push-In, Pull-out, Learning Lab Intervention, and small-group teaching models.
    • Demonstrated mastery of classroom skills, including classroom management, planning, assessment, and instructional practice
    • Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools
    • Bilingual ability preferred

    ** Skills, Knowledge** :

    • Preparing and implementing lesson plans that lead to student understanding based on state standards
    • Providing an effective learning environment that reflects and facilitates student achievement
    • Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records
    • Writing and conducting IEPs and facilitating IEP meetings
    • Proctoring Formal Assessments
    • Updating service logs and files
    • Communicating with partnering agencies
    • Participating in SST Meetings
    • Maintaining frequent communication with students, students' families, colleagues, and leadership
    • Participating regularly in professional development opportunities
    • Appropriately communicating and interacting with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work.
    • Attending and participating in staff meetings, extra-curricular/school-related activities, and committees.
    • Demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional growth and working with administrators to formulate and complete professional development plans.
    • Maintaining a professional appearance and demonstrating behavior that is conscientious and responsible.

    _ Pay Range: $66,745.12 - $110,152.35_. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

    • Full-time staff benefits include medical coverage, dental, vision, and life insurance at no cost to the employee.
    • For eligible employees, WCPA contributes 19% to CalSTRS. Alternatively, employees may participate in a 403(b) plan with up to 5% employer match (if not receiving CalSTRS contributions).
