Job Description

Primus Aerospace is currently seeking a mechanical buyer with at least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual will be responsible for:

• Generating PO’s for Outside Processes as well as Subcontractors to meet production schedules.
• Source materials through qualified suppliers per customer requirements to meet production schedule.
• Negotiate price to ‘meet or beat’ budget requirements and lead times.
• Issue change orders as needed when requirements shift in the Production or Customer schedules.
• Provide updates to production team regarding material on time deliveries and report possible delays.
• Review packing lists and test reports for possible receiving discrepancies on material quantity, alloy, temper, heat/lot data entry errors and specifications.
• Resolve any discrepancies with vendor and notify Account Managers and Production Team of pending delays.
• Review material ordered against material received and resolve any discrepancies.
• Issue material to Work Orders, record heat number on the Work Order and update Job Administration spreadsheet and machine schedules.
• Deliver Work Orders to the production floor.
• Source new suppliers and obtain material costs for prospective jobs.
• Qualify new suppliers per Quality Management System procedures.
• Place orders and manage outside Subcontractors based on schedule demands.
• Track progress of outside subcontractors and report discrepancies and delays to Production team Account managers.
• Maintain material budgets and report to Management monthly or as requested.
• Source and order all other requirements for plant operations i.e. packaging supplies, safety supplies, abrasives, etc.
