Principal Data Scientist - San Diego, CA or Atlanta, GA or New York
Hybrid Work, Full time M-F 8am-5pm PST, Working Onsite 2 days/week

Exempt/Salary: $120,000-$180,000 Base Salary, Position eligible for additional incentives including bonus, 401k match, health and welfare benefits.
FairSquare is continuing to grow its Data Science Department and has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Data Scientist.
Major Responsibilities
• The Data Scientist will work directly with the Director of Data Science in providing credit scoring and related support, credit analytics, segmentation, business rules, and related support.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship and evolve data science capabilities.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business problems and requirements.
• Design, develop and deploy both static and dynamic machine learning models in domains including, but not limited to credit risk, collections, sales optimization.
• Deduce and draw conclusions from extensive exploratory data analysis to improve business decisions and product planning.
• Explore new data sources to improve or augment existing models.
• Develop new statistical experiments for testing and validation.
• Lead R&D work to advance analytic capabilities and improve decision making.
• Develop analytics libraries/standardized framework for scalable and repeatable model development, deployment, and monitoring work.
• Participate in the planning of the Data Science roadmap.
• Effectively present data and complex ideas to a wide audience including business stakeholders and senior leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Quantitative background in statistics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related discipline.
• 12+ year of experience with Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience with Master's degree with increasing responsibility.
• Prior experience and strong understanding of the lending domain; prior FinTech experience a plus.
• In-depth understanding and application of various statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms.
• Fluency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL.
• Expertise in working with relational databases. Experience with cloud technology (AWS) a plus.
• Ability to manage the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle. Experience with Mlflow or alternative tools a plus.
• Experience working in agile environment.
• Strong programming practices utilizing version control systems (e.g. Git)
• Attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audience.
