    As our Principal Engineer, you will join the Content Delivery Engineering team, reporting into the Global Video Engineering organization at NBCUniversal. The role is based in New York City, USA and is focused on ensuring our current and future OTT products & features continue to achieve industry-leading performance for our subscribers, at ever-increasing, international scale.

    Responsibilities

    • The role requires a keen intellect to research and drive complex technical debate with key architectural, design and operational teams throughout Comcast’s businesses and third party vendors.
    • A flair for authoring designs for content delivery services & associated systems and being hands-on during execution and delivery.
    • Proven ability to conduct rigorous technical reviews of existing and planned systems & methods, challenging the status quo, where appropriate.
    • A well-informed, open-minded approach to construct and lead technical RFI, RFP, RFQ processes, with associated proof-of-concept design, execution and measurement.
    • Enjoy maintaining an international, multi-cultural outlook, with eyes for aligning talent to initiatives, representing us at industry forums and leading by example, especially under pressure.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a relevant field is required.
    • Demonstrable experience in an engineering leadership role, 3+ years.
    • 10+ years of engineering experience as an individual contributor.
    • A successful track record in delivering and maintaining global products and services, especially streaming, via content delivery networks.
    • Strength with all forms of engineering communication in spoken and written English, to diverse audiences.
    • Willingness to travel around the USA and Europe for work-related activities.
    • Core, foundational, up-to-date knowledge of key internet technologies, eg CDN, TCP/IP, TLS, HTTP/*, DNS & BGP.
    • Effective deployment of SRE to achieve safe, consistent, high-reliability technology operations.

    Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

    This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
