    Job Description

    The West Region Dams and Reservoirs team of AECOM is actively seeking a part-time variable Principal Hydraulics Engineer with a wide variety of experience related to dams projects and focus on hydraulic structures. The dams and reservoirs team within the Water Business Line is responsible for providing engineering and design services in support of multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on water storage and hydropower dam projects.

    In this role you will primarily be responsible for responding to specific work assignments by key clients and projects. The type of work may include but is not limited to:

    Technical

    • Provide senior technical input and review of hydraulic evaluation and modeling and hydraulic structures evaluation, modeling, and design.

    • Ensure hydraulic and related designs are completed in accordance with contractual obligations, applicable standards, and design documents, and confirm review and approval have been completed.

    • Ensure QA/QC procedures are being implemented and ensure the technical quality of deliverables.

    • Lead responses to client’s comments on hydraulic design elements of deliverables.

    • Incorporate innovation in design and delivery, and support groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists with development of hydraulic and related design documents and contract deliverables.

    • Provide senior technical input and review of hydraulic and related reports, drawings, and specifications for water storage and hydropower dams and associated structures.

    • Prepare and present technical presentations to project team, clients, and technical review boards.

    • Perform dam safety inspections.

    • Participate and support potential failure mode analyses and risk analyses for water storage and hydropower dams.

    • Train, mentor, and develop staff, and support career growth opportunities for staff. Interface with project teams, clients, and subcontractors through progression of the design deliverables.

    • Comply with company’s safety awareness program and policies.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree and 25+ years of relevant engineering experience related to dams and associated structures projects.
    • Professional engineering license
