Principal Systems Integration Engineer – Mobile Platform Architecture (Contract | Remote)
A Technical Architecture Engagement for Senior Engineers Who Build Real Systems
Our firm is partnering with an engineering organization developing next-generation mobile platforms designed for demanding operational environments.
The concept exists. The major components have already been selected. 2D layouts and a master component list are in place. The team is now entering a critical stage where a senior engineer is needed to formalize the integration architecture and ensure the platform is technically sound, buildable, and scalable.
This is not a traditional engineering support role.
This is a systems architecture engagement.
Due to competitive sensitivity, some technical details are intentionally limited until later in the process.
The Challenge
You’ll take an already functioning concept and transform it into an integrated system that can move confidently toward prototype and production.
The work spans:
- Power generation, storage, and distribution
- Structural integration and load management
- Environmental survivability
- Safety and risk mitigation
- Documentation built for repeatable manufacturing and technical validation
This project sits at the intersection of engineering rigor and practical deployment.
If you’ve ever looked at a platform and thought:
“This works — but the system architecture isn’t fully resolved yet,”
this engagement is built for you.
What You’ll Own
You’ll operate as the senior integration architect, bringing cohesion across electrical, structural, and environmental systems.
Core responsibilities include:
- System-level architecture integrating power, communications, and control
- Mobile electrical design including:
- Battery and solar architecture
- Inverter and generator integration
- Load modeling and power balancing
- Grounding strategy and protection design
- Structural considerations including weight distribution, vibration mitigation, and mounting strategy
- Environmental hardening decisions (thermal management, EMI awareness)
- Integration risk assessments (failure modes, redundancy, scalability)
- Documentation suitable for fabrication, repeatability, and future expansion
- Technical outputs that support CAD/rendering workflows and stakeholder validation
You will not be starting from scratch — your role is to validate, refine, and formalize.
Why This Role Exists Now
The organization is moving quickly for two reasons:
- Prototype readiness — ensuring the platform is engineered correctly before build (avoid costly design mistakes).
- Technical validation — creating architecture and documentation that supports investor and stakeholder confidence.
There is also near-term interest from operational end-users, making engineering credibility essential early in the process.
Ideal Background
You’ve likely spent time in one or more of these environments:
- Aerospace or defense platform integration
- Tactical mobility systems
- Marine or expeditionary power systems
- Specialty vehicles or advanced off-grid systems
- Complex field-deployed hardware where reliability matters
You understand the realities of:
- Designing systems that must work the first time
- Balancing engineering elegance with manufacturing realities
- Making tradeoffs visible and intentional
- Turning “Frankenstein assemblies” into coherent systems
Who Thrives Here
- Former Principal or Staff Systems Engineers from primes or advanced mobility teams
- Senior electrical/system architects doing fractional consulting work
- Engineers who enjoy solving cross-disciplinary problems without bureaucracy
- People who prefer ownership over process
- Engineers comfortable working directly with founders and decision-makers
Engagement Details
- Remote (U.S.-based preferred)
- Project-based contract
- Initial architecture sprint expected to move quickly (deliverables-driven)
- Flexible schedule tied to outcomes
- High autonomy with direct access to leadership
- Potential for continued involvement during prototype and technical validation phases
Why Engineers Take Engagements Like This
- You get to architect — not just execute.
- You’ll influence the foundation of a real system.
- Your decisions directly impact prototype success and production viability.
- You’re brought in because your judgment matters.
