  • Responsibilities

    Ingredion is hiring a Technical Service Principal Technician to provide technical support and expertise to customers for a broad range of food & beverage applications, with a primary focus on supporting the growth of Ingredion’s Sugar Reduction and Specialty Sweeteners Platform. The Pr. Technician will support our Sweetener Tech Service, Sales, Business Development, and Marketing teams in the US/Canada region, in new product development and creating customer valued solutions. The Pr. Technician will be responsible for developing/preparing food formulations and prototypes for various customer and business initiatives on a pilot plant and lab benchtop scale, utilizing Good Manufacturing Practices. They will also perform research-related duties as needed, support internal/external customer requests and new business development opportunities; execute on analytical testing as well as document and prepare technical reports or information for customers with guidance from the manager. They will have the potential for growth to other roles within the Technical Service team.

    BUSINESS

    • Execute bench top and pilot plant projects to support customer initiatives and opportunities for our Sugar Reduction and Specialty Sweeteners Go-To-Market strategy, with guidance from the manager and team.

    • Complete Sugar Reduction and Specialty Sweetener projects that generate technical information for product promotion and communication to our Go-To-Market team and customers.

    • Utilize Project management, Food Science skills, and creativity to effectively and efficiently complete projects; manages projects to deliver on time.

    • Develop an understanding of internal and external customers’ technical and innovation needs in order to provide relevant project suggestions and ideas; provide indirect or direct support to customers with guidance from the manager and team.

    A GILITY AND INNOVATION

    • Work across a broad range of food application categories (Beverage, Dairy, Baking, Confectionery, Savory) to provide hands-on support for identifying Sugar Reduction and Specialty Sweeteners solutions and opportunities.

    • Produce demos, formulations, and prototypes to promote and showcase our Sugar Reduction and Specialty Sweeteners products and capabilities for trainings, webinars, customer visits, and tradeshows.

    • Complete qualification and application testing protocols.

    • Support pilot and production scale trials for internal and external customers.

    • Build knowledge of the company’s technologies and their applications in customers’ products.

    RELATIONSHIPS AND PEOPLE

    • Foster and build relationships with cross-functional teams of internal colleagues.

    • Interact primarily with Sweetener Tech Service and extended Tech Service Team, Key technology functions, Sales, and Business development functions in US/Canada Region to serve as a collaborative team member

    • Seek opportunities (training, projects, etc.) that develop knowledge and skills to become a stronger contributor.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • B.S in Food Science or equivalent technical field.

    • Knowledge of common food processes and food ingredients, food ingredient functionality, and specific sweetener knowledge is a plus.

    • Prior laboratory experience and basic knowledge of food lab protocols and lab safety are a plus.

    • Excellent organizational, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills (technical reports for internal and external distribution, presentations, etc.)

    • Experience handling technical information desired. (i.e. food formulations, food processing specifications, pilot plant procedures, etc.) Demonstrated attention to detail and willingness to learn.

    • Team player, able to work with limited supervision, problem solver, and self-starter.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn other platforms as needed.

    • Ability to travel 10-15% domestically.
