    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    The SAFETY COORDINATOR will work to ensure that all employees can complete their work safely along with leading and supporting safety initiatives and processes that enable an injury-free workplace. They will provide safety expertise, project management, and administrative support to the Director of Facilities and Safety in order to set safety standards that meet OSHA and NFPA requirements along with training employees to help them understand safety rules. They will also monitor working conditions and resolve any safety issues that may arise. Furthermore, the SAFETY COORDINATOR will conduct safety investigations following accidents/incidents to discover root causes and ensure proper/sustainable corrective actions.

    YOUR DAILY TASKS WILL ENTAIL:

    Typical duties and responsibilities include performing safety and health hazard assessments, conducting audits to identify safety issues, leading safety teams, preparing reports, conducting projects related to safety, creating safety specific SOPs, conducting safety training along with investigating accidents and injuries to discover root causes and ensuring sustainable corrective actions.

    • Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to enable an injury-free workplace 
    • Develop and implement safety plans while ensuring they are being followed as scheduled
    • Lead safety teams and conduct team meetings; control safety action items to ensure completion
    • Create safety observation reports and schedule meetings to discuss findings
    • Conduct daily safety walk-throughs of the facilities to discover items that need to be addressed
    • Train employees on all safety standards and expectations along with safe machine operation
    • Develop and conduct monthly safety training throughout the facilities on safety-related matters
    • Provide recommendations and solutions for improving safety to the Director of Facilities and Safety along with other key leadership positions
    • Investigate accidents and incidents that occur onsite to identify root causes, propose solutions, and create action plans
    • Create and maintain safety procedure documentation relating to accidents and incidents along with safety-related SOPs
    • Serve as a member of the facility emergency response team
    • Enforce PPE usage throughout the facilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Safety

    HERE'S WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

    • Associate's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or 2+ years experience leading safety
    • 3+ years of experience or training in the printing industry or retail, warehousing, or manufacturing
    • Experience with spreadsheets, slides, and word-processing programs; Google Docs experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
    • Understanding of OSHA, NFPA, federal, state, and city safety requirements
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while at the same time meeting deadlines
    • Ability to establish professional relationships with employees/leaders; good interpersonal skills

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health
    • Current or previous experience as an OSHA Safety Officer
    • Strong facilities, maintenance, and machine safety background
    • Registration as a Certified Safety Professional (CPS) or similar form of license
