    ESO Consultantsare looking for approximately 30 staff members (Outreach Associates) for 18 to 24 months based on the requirements outlined below.

    Job Timing: The standard workweek will be five days, Monday through Friday. The workday will typically start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. However, on occasion, Outreach Associates may be required to start as early as 7:00 a.m., work as late as 9:00 p.m., or work shifts on Saturdays or Sundays.

    Location: Outreach Associates will be expected to start and end in the field at locations within New York City predetermined by ESO Consultants

    Remuneration: $18/per site visit.

    Duties:
    Outreach Associates will conduct approximately 10 to 20 site visits per day to educate and assist customers during the zoning transition period.
    Visits will include all types of commercial establishments, including office buildings, retail, restaurants, industrial uses, hotels, and hospitals, among others.
    We will provide training, supervision, and daily direction to Outreach Associates as needed.

    Outreach Associates will be required to:
    • Visit between 10 and 20 commercial establishments on a typical day and provide them with information on the CWZ program and implementation timeline.
    • Educate businesses on their rights and the steps for selecting a new private carter.
    • Conduct phone calls and on-site interviews with businesses, property owners, managers, and facilities staff.
    • Be knowledgeable of applicable rules and regulations.
    • Complete site surveys using a mobile app and perform data entry tasks relating to each customer’s private carter and waste management practices.
    • Check in daily with a representative.
    • Meet weekly at an office for field assignments and to collect outreach materials.
    Outreach Associates will be subject to periodic evaluations with a DSNY representative to discuss their outreach performance and survey data integrity, as well as to identify areas for improvement. DSNY will also conduct periodic team meetings, training, team building exercises, and provide professional development opportunities, as needed.

    Outreach Associates must:
    • Possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree OR three (3) years of the equivalent of post-secondary education and community engagement experience.
    • Have two (2) or more years of customer service experience.
    • Be able to provide two professional and/or academic references.
    • Have the desire to work in the field and perform community outreach.
    • Possess strong administrative, note-taking, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
    • Be able to work in a team setting, under indirect supervision, and exercise independent problem-solving.
    • Be adept at using a mobile phone, tablet, and desktop PC.
    • Have practical knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Be able to walk long distances and work outdoors in inclement weather and all temperatures.
    • Be familiar with the five boroughs of NYC and able to confidently navigate the City using public transportation.
    • Be fluent in English.
    In addition, there is a strong preference for Outreach Associates that are:
    • Fluent in a foreign language, including Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Russian, Korean, Haitian Creole, Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Yiddish, and Hebrew.
    • Experienced with mobile survey applications or customer relationship management (“CRM”) databases such as Salesforce.
    • Experienced in leading workshops and pieces of training, giving presentations, or public speaking.
    • Interested in City government, community and civic engagement, waste management, and/or sustainability.
    • Familiar with NYC laws, rules, and regulations.
