Private Banking Team Lead Location: Peninsula / San Francisco Bay Area
Overview
A well-capitalized and growing private banking platform is seeking a seasoned Private Banking Team Lead to cultivate and manage a portfolio of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients across the Peninsula. This is a build-focused opportunity designed for a motivated producer who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, with access to a robust internal referral network spanning commercial banking, retail branches, and ancillary business lines.
This is not a portfolio maintenance role. It is a revenue-generating position with full access to an integrated suite of lending, investment, planning, and insurance solutions, and a defined path into producing regional leadership for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for HNW and UHNW clients, typically managing portfolios of $3MM to $5MM or more in liquid assets
- Proactively build and grow a new client portfolio through personal networks, centers of influence, and internal referral channels
- Deliver customized financial solutions across lending, deposits, treasury, investment referrals, financial planning, and insurance
- Structure and underwrite credit opportunities including residential mortgages, HELOCs, securities-based lending, and select commercial real estate investor loans
- Partner with internal teams across business lines to maximize cross-sell, deepen client relationships, and drive retention
- Represent the firm in market development activities throughout the Peninsula and greater Bay Area
Leadership Track
Senior candidates may be considered for an expanded producing Area Leader designation, with oversight responsibility for private bankers across Northern California and a direct role in shaping regional strategy alongside executive leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- 6 or more years in private banking, wealth management, or commercial banking, with a demonstrated track record of new business development and portfolio growth
- Strong technical proficiency in credit structuring, deposit gathering, and investment and financial planning referral strategies
- Proven ability to generate fee-based revenue in a relationship-driven environment
Required Licenses
- Series 7
- Series 63 and 65 (or equivalent)
- California Life Insurance License
