Job Summary
PACSCON Geoenvironmental, Inc. is a Florida-based consulting company specializing in geotechnical engineering and environmental services.
We are seeking a Plan Reviewer and Inspector to join our team in Tampa to provide private plan review and inspection services that help developers, architects, and contractors accelerate timelines and avoid costly delay, without compromising quality.
Inspectors engaged through this opportunity serve in a statutory capacity pursuant to Florida’s Private Provider program. This is a position that offers flexibility and competitive compensation, with inspection assignments offered based on project approvals, certification(s), availability, and jurisdictional requirements.
Compensation can be either salaried or paid by inspections at a rate that is commensurate with experience
Responsibilities Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Conduct inspections for Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems in residential and commercial structures.
Verify compliance with approved permits, plans, and specifications; review and approve work on completed projects.
Ensure compliance with Florida Building Code, County and City ordinances, and applicable trade codes.
Communicate clearly with clients and contractors to explain code requirements and inspection outcomes.
Organize and manage daily inspections. Maintain accurate documentation and submit inspection reports.
Collaborate with contractors, engineers, architects, and internal support to ensure documentation is completed and permits/licenses are approved.
Identify and address compliance issues, issue code violations, and conduct re-inspections to ensure corrections are made and compliance is achieved.
Maintain and update inspection files, records, and reports in permit databases.
Stay current on code changes and regulatory developments through independent research. Attend continuing education courses for re-certification.
Qualifications
Active BIN # (Building Inspector Number) issued by the State of Florida.
Certification and experience in at least one of the following trades: Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing
OR Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Structural Engineering or MEP Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) AND a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of applicable codes (Florida Building Code, NFPA-70, Plumbing/Mechanical Codes).
Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the designated counties.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
Multi-trade certifications are preferred, although not required.
Experience with private provider inspections.
Familiarity with permit databases and digital reporting tools is a strong plus.
