AWS Sales Engineer

Privo

AWS Sales Engineer

National

  • Responsibilities

Do you want to jump start your technical career with a mix of account management and sales? In a sector that is in a constant state of exponential growth?  Privo is an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Premier Consulting Partner headquartered just north of Boston. We have a near-bursting pipeline of potential customers who need help with their adoption of the AWS platform. Many of our customers come to us already convinced they need help, so we don't need salespeople in the traditional, what's-it-gonna-take-to-put-you-in-this-new-car-today sense of the word.  What we need are disarmingly smart people willing to go deep into the weeds, becoming a master of the AWS platform and IT infrastructure in general enough to help customers understand how their AWS project would be constructed, how the project would go, and how they would benefit from our help. The more technical knowledge you possess, the better your results will be. You must be motivated to educate others about the benefits of AWS tools and services and creative in your approach to building your own book of business. You have to be willing to learn everything you can about AWS and IT infrastructure such as storage, databases, scalable web applications, security, and more.  If you don't find it endlessly intriguing how these pieces fit together to remove the “sh” from IT, how the cloud is democratizing which ideas can grow up to be world-beating applications, how companies finding cures for rare diseases can spin up a thousand genome-crunching instances in a matter of minutes, then this isn't the role for you.  We don't need widget-sellers--we need passionate and capable technical salespeople.

    THE JOB ROLE

We want you to help us continue to drive the meteoric growth of Privo as we expand. We need you to help our customers scope out their AWS projects, and collaborate with our sales counterparts at AWS. You answer customer questions about AWS, talk to their technical people to help them feel comfortable with the solutions we are proposing, and work hand-in-hand with our engineering team to make sure your technical chops are always improving. You'll work side-by-side with a small team of like-minded solutions specialists, travel several times a year to meet with AWS teams, and help us to build our reputation as the most well-respected AWS Consulting Partner in the US. This job is for that rare triple threat: someone who possesses a strong technical mind, polished communication skills, and a personality that makes people happy.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 2+ years of technology-related sales, business development, or sales engineering/consulting experience
    • Experience positioning and selling technology solutions to new customers and varying market segments
    • Record of success in outbound sales or prospecting role in B2B environment
    • Experience navigating prospective accounts from and into a senior executive level to identify new customer opportunities in a focused market space
    • Experience in managing customer accounts and building lasting relationships
    • Experience writing proposals and/or Scopes Of Work
    • Skilled in lead generating activities
    • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills
    • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Business, Economics, Marketing, Psychology, Computer Science or a related field
    • AWS Cloud Practioner Certification holder highly preferred (if you're applying to this role and you do not have it we would highly suggest you being studying for this right away)
    • Technical background in MIS or engineering a plus
    • Knowledge of AWS or IT infrastructure is a huge bonus

    WHO WE ARE

We are Privo, an AWS Premier Consulting partner headquartered in Woburn, MA who helps customers architect, migrate, manage, optimize, and secure the AWS workloads.

Think for a moment about the vast numbers of servers humming away in dusty server closets and co-location facilities around the world. Virtually all businesses that still own and operate their own servers (over 90% of businesses!) know they should move to the cloud but they lack the time and expertise to get it done. It requires knowledge of not just the AWS platform but also of networking, VPNs, databases, Linux, Windows, security, monitoring, scalability, backups, and much more.  On top of that, you have brilliant people with great ideas that want to scale their applications globally in days not months, and they come to us to make it happen on the AWS platform.

Finding people with these skills -- AWS, general IT infrastructure, and security -- is like hunting for winged unicorns.  On the one hand, it's why our services are so in demand but it's also why we are always struggling to find people to meet that demand.  Therefore, we seek people who are smart, charming, gritty, and anxious to learn; and we give them opportunities to learn new skills and go deeper with the ones they already have.  If you are looking for a place to grow professionally, this is it.

    WHAT WE OFFER

    • A RIDICULOUSLY GREAT WORK ENVIRONMENT. Our top priority as a company is creating a place where people love to work. Our office is relaxed, collaborative, and fun. We started our business with the premise that smart and creative people have a strong distaste for bureaucracy and micromanagement and they find it painful to work for small-minded people/companies. They want to come to work to make an impact, solve interesting problems, help their teammates, grow their skills and their careers, and build something great. We give you the freedom, respect, and resources to do what you need to do, so your job doesn't have to feel like a job. On top of that, the company is growing extremely fast which is both exciting and challenging at the same time. If you like a little bit of a faster pace, you'll love it here.

    • ENDLESS TRAINING AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT. The kind of people we are looking for are driven by a deep desire for continuous learning.  AWS is the leading cloud platform and we give our employees the opportunity to learn it inside and out.  We will pay for your AWS certifications and support your career development in any way we can.

    • FLEXIBILITY.  It's important that you live in the Boston area and come to the office most days, but you don't have to come in every day.  If you can be productive at home, we can develop a flexible schedule to fit your lifestyle. We collaborate using Slack and other tools and it works great.

    THE COVER LETTER IS KEY

If this sounds like your kind of place, we, of course, want to see your resume, but more importantly, we want to hear _why _you think you would be successful here.  We're not asking for the standard cover letter.  We want your authentic voice and your personality to come through.  Tell us your story. If you half-ass a cover letter or send something generic, we're going to half-ass our consideration of it and send you a generic rejection letter.  No offense.

We look forward to meeting you!
