Responsibilities: • Meet with patients to verify consents and documentation • Assist with positioning, prepping, and draping patients • Ensure all instruments and equipment are ready • Participate in pre-op briefings with the surgical team • Assist surgeons with retraction, hemostasis, suturing, and tissue handling • Utilize advanced techniques and instrumentation as needed • Maintain strict aseptic technique and support a sterile field • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to support case flow • Assist with patient transfer to recovery • Ensure accurate and timely documentation • Join team debriefings to discuss outcomes and improvements Qualifications: • Active Surgical Assistant License (Texas Medical Board) • Certification from ABSA or NSAA (required) • Current BLS or ACLS certification (AHA or equivalent) • 2+ years of experience in a hospital or outpatient surgical setting • Proficiency in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., cardiovascular, neuro, ortho, general, MIS) • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills • Ability to remain calm and precise in high-pressure situations
