Responsibilities: Meet patients preoperatively and verify documentation and consent forms • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping per surgical standards • Confirm that instruments and equipment are ready and functional • Participate in team briefings to review the surgical plan • Provide direct assistance to the surgeon (e.g., retraction, hemostasis, suturing) • Use advanced techniques and instruments to support precision during procedures • Maintain sterile technique and adhere to infection control protocols • Anticipate the surgical team's needs to facilitate procedural flow • Assist with patient transfer to recovery • Complete, accurate surgical documentation • Participate in post-op debriefings and quality improvement discussions Qualifications: • Current Surgical Assistant license issued by the Texas Medical Board • Certified by a recognized body (ABSA or NSAA required) • Active BLS or ACLS certification (AHA or equivalent) • Minimum 2 years’ experience in surgical assisting (hospital or outpatient setting) • Skilled in multiple surgical specialties, including cardiovascular, orthopedic, general, neurosurgery, and minimally invasive procedures • Strong communication and teamwork skills; proficient in medical terminology • Detail-oriented and able to manage high-pressure situations effectively • Foreign MDs must pass TOEFL Test
