    Job Description The HR & Benefits Coordinator position is responsible for planning and administering group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.) and coordination of leave of absences. This position provides excellent customer service and administers quality benefits plans. The HR & Benefits Coordinator is also responsible for HR administration in certain Lines of Business and will provide general HR support.

    Essential Functions Include:

    • Continually investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and performs benefits administration.
    • Provides excellent customer service support to internal customers.
    • Develops communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefits package.
    • Research employee benefits plans and vendors to identify those that present the best value.
    • Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and any third-party administrators.
    • Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
    • Evaluates and recommends changes to internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
    • Documents and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
    • Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations.
    • Ensures timeliness and accuracy of required reporting and fees.
    • Coordinates daily benefits processing. Handles enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships and compliance testing etc.
    • Maintains employee benefits files and group benefits database and updates applicable employee payroll records.
    • Reconciles monthly billing.
    • Designs and distributes materials for benefits orientations and open enrollment.
    • Manages leaves of absence and educates employees on various leave options and conditions.
    • Performs HR administrative services for temporary employees and independent contractors including, but not limited to onboarding and offboarding, performing background and reference checks, processing any changes and HRIS administration.
    • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations by understanding and staying current with state and national laws.
    • Maintains HRIS system.
    • Assists in the maintenance of personnel files.
    • Participates in new employee orientations.
    • Provides general HR reports as necessary.
    • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.
    • Acts as a backup to the HR Advisor.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications Qualified candidates must have:

    • B.S./B.A. in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related field desired.
    • Working knowledge of Labor Laws, FMLA, Performance Management, Benefits, and Employee Relations.
    • Minimum 1-year previous human resources experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; knowledge of Visio and PowerPoint desired.
    • Possess effective written and oral communication skills; ability to write, type, express or exchange idea of a technical nature by means of the spoken word; convey information/instructions accurately; receive detailed information through oral or written forms and to translate those instructions into physical of tasks.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
    • There is limited travel expected for this role.
