    About Mote

    Mote is developing a first-of-a-kind technology for woody waste biomass that removes CO2 from the air and produces clean hydrogen to help the world meet climate goals, improve air quality, and reduce wildfires. We are developing modular projects based on our innovative and groundbreaking biomass gasification process that also enables permanent carbon sequestration. This includes a pilot-scale Advanced Testing Center in Los Angeles.     About the Team

    The Technology Team enables decarbonization at scale by leading process development, R&D, and technology deployment. The team supports internal and external stakeholders by ensuring Mote’s technologies operate safely, efficiently, and reliably – from early testing through commercial deployment.

    Responsibilities

    • Hands-on development and delivery of Process Engineering deliverables on projects and proposals. Process Engineering scope commonly includes all phases of design development, from conceptual engineering and detailed engineering through startup and plant operations.
    • Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities such as producing and reviewing deliverables (e.g., design basis, PFDs, P&IDs, H&MBs, equipment data sheets, startup and shutdown guidelines, etc.), participating in HAZOP reviews and RAM analyses, and evaluating proposals and bids from vendors and contractors.
    • Develop and perform process simulations, configuration studies, and sensitivity analyses.
    • Identify and evaluate creative design solutions that optimize Mote’s process, project capital/operating costs, equipment reliability/availability, or project schedule.
    • Support R&D activities such as conducting literature search and preparing patent applications.
    • Serve as a technical resource for internal and external customers and partners.
    • Develop and maintain internal design tools and procedures.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or similar field.
    • 5 years of experience with Responsibilities described above in related industries.
    • Experience producing process engineering deliverables, such as process flow diagrams, process data sheets, and piping & instrument diagrams (P&IDs).
    • Experience with AutoCAD, SPPID or other CAD software.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Excellent critical analytical skills and is adept at good decision making.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with gasification, biomass conversion, and/or gas processing.
    • Demonstrated leadership of process design on capital projects.
    • Experience with DWSIM, Aspen Plus, PRO/II, or similar simulation software.
    • Experience with plant operation

    Pay and Benefits

    At Mote, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow within a role. Your base pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

    At Mote, under favorable financial conditions, employees are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases and stock bonuses. These awards are allocated based on individual performance.
