Title: Casting Manager
Shift: 1st shift, in office M-F
Pay: $120k-$150k+ (+/- depending on experience)
Location: Austintown, OH
The Casting Manager will lead and manage casting and other metallurgical initiatives to support operations, manufacturing, and projects related to order processing and the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes and products that safely and cost-effectively meet or exceed customer demands for quality, consistency, and on-time performance. The Casting Manager will be the subject-matter expert for metallurgy, ensuring data-based decision-making and employing intellectual curiosity to seek information and develop solutions.
This position coordinates activities with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and others internally to ensure compliance with company and customer quality procedures and product specifications. The incumbent will interact directly with applicable employees in manufacturing plants to develop and implement products, initiatives, and solutions to meet customer demands and will also interact with other members of the organization and external resources to lead/collaborate on various projects and initiatives, adhering to non-disclosure and other confidentiality procedures.
Casting Manager Responsibilities:

Safety:
- Ensures personal compliance with applicable internal policies and external regulatory standards (safety,
- environmental, health), reporting any issues that are not immediately resolvable through appropriate channels.
- Proactively collaborates with the EHS Manager on any process or equipment modifications or implementations to ensure changes are made with a safety-first approach.
- Participates in the safety observation program and incident and/or accident investigations as requested.
- Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions. Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.
Operations:
- Oversee bimetallic casting related activities including product recipes, testing, NDE, and subcontracted processes, with proactive collaboration with Manufacturing Operations management.
- Aligns product and testing priorities within furnace production schedules through appropriate personnel.
- Optimizes and ensures casting material utilization without affecting product/quality integrity.
- Monitors and ensures optimal performance of furnace assets, managing any outside resources and coordinating with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, and others as applicable.
- Document Control – ensures casting records, charts, furnace maps, and shop orders are complete, correct and signed off.
- Manages all related process specification and training requirements.
- Performs as a business materials and additive manufacturing expert across all manufacturing locations and processes and leads in-process change for abatement and control.
- Ensures best practices and stays abreast of state-of-the-art technology, processes, and equipment to establish and maintain casting as a core competency.
Process/Product Development & Improvement:
- Leads and manages product development initiatives and projects, ensuring timely and effective results that support cost effective implementation of customer demands, including but not limited to developing new inlay/matrix for barrels.
- Initiates, develops, and implements plans that will improve existing process and product quality and consistency, in line with company objectives.
- Initiates, develops, and implements manufacturing plans, processes and procedures related to new products, in line with company objectives.
- Ensures compliance with established quality systems and procedures.
- Reviews and investigates customer claims and internal CARs and prepares resolution reports on areas of responsibility.
- Develops capabilities regarding SPC, SQC, Lean, etc.
- Develops, builds, and reports on metrics related to process development and production, utilizing computer technology to ensure timely and efficient communication.
Customer Satisfaction Support:
- Participates in the Specific Product Design (SPD) process to meet customer expectations.
- Reviews test results for compliance with product specifications/customer requirements.
- Determines root cause and ensures implementation of corrective actions through analysis of rejects and nonconformities, interacting directly with applicable internal and external parties to resolve customer-generated complaints and ensure satisfaction.
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.
- Meets on-site attendance requirements to effectively build positive relationships and interact with all employees.
- Travel as required to support customer demands, including international travel (approximately 10-20% travel).
About you:
Work Experience Required:
- Minimum of 5 years as a manager/leader of process or product metallurgists with heavy emphasis on and direct/hands-on shop-floor product/process development and improvement activities.
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated successful management of complex projects encompassing product development, continuous improvement, and/or process development.
Education and Skills:
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Metallurgy, master’s degree preferred.
- Passion for innovative technology and managing associated activities; strong intellectual curiosity.
- Extensive knowledge of metallic alloys and their constituents and metallurgical phase transformations.
- Desire and ability to develop means/methods for gathering and analyzing data, such as simulation techniques; a high degree of bias toward utilizing data to solve problems and make decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal effectiveness to achieve collaboration.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical people.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities to work with cross-functional teams at all levels to solve problems, create, and implement solutions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform the following physical demands with or without accommodation:
- Ability to sit and utilize a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around an office and industrial environment for up to 8 hours a day, including interacting with plant employees in various work centers and identifying products.
- Ability to lift to 40 pounds on an infrequent basis.
- Ability to hear, speak, read, and understand English effectively to communicate with other employees, agencies, and vendors. Additional language skills may be required dependent upon location served.
- Ability to meet the demands of travel, approximately 10-20%, including driving, flying, moving throughout airports, etc.
