Procurement Manager - Industrial Automation
Position Overview
Our client, a global leader in innovative automation solutions, seeks a strategic Solutions Procurement Manager. This pivotal role involves identifying, evaluating, and engaging suppliers to meet operational and financial objectives, managing supply chain for solution projects, and driving value through cost savings, performance, and risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management: Develop and implement procurement strategies; identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers/subcontractors for reliability, quality, cost, and compliance.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations for optimal value and risk management; ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and industry standards.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, construction, and project management teams to align procurement with technical and scheduling needs.
- Cost and Budget Control: Monitor and manage procurement budgets, driving cost reductions without compromising quality or performance.
- Procurement Operations Oversight: Oversee RFQs, RFPs, POs, and change orders; ensure timely delivery of materials/services for project deadlines.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (e.g., insolvency, geopolitical, logistics); maintain contingency plans.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize ERP/procurement software to streamline and improve processes for efficiency and compliance.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present comprehensive procurement reports on cost savings, supplier performance, and status.
Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (required).
- Master's degree (Supply Chain, Engineering Management, or Procurement) (preferred).
- Professional Experience:
- 5-10+ years of progressive procurement experience, ideally within:
- Engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
- Complex or large-scale capital projects.
- International sourcing and supply chain environments.
- Proven track record in negotiating contracts, managing procurement teams or cross-functional collaboration, and working effectively with engineering and project management disciplines.
- Technical & Functional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes, engineering specifications, technical drawings, contract law, and terms.
- Proficiency with procurement and ERP systems, along with advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
- Soft Skills & Leadership Qualities:
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities, commercial awareness, and strategic thinking.
- Excellent problem-solving and risk management skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Leadership and people management experience (for senior roles within the range).
- Professional Certifications (Optional):
- ISM/CPSM – Certified Professional in Supply Management (USA)
- APICS / CSCP – Certified Supply Chain Professional
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma
