VISION FOR POSITION
A Student Success Coach interventionist is a committed school team member that is closing the opportunity gap. A Prodeo Academy interventionist is intensely focused on their professional growth and closing academic achievement gaps that exist within the school. This person is responsible for socio-emotional learning (SEL) interventions, screening and progress monitoring, and providing a safe, supportive environment to learn to de-escalate (“the Green Zone”). This person reports and tracks SEL intervention data to the school team so that schoolwide intervention meetings (SWIMs) run efficiently. In addition, this person also provides in-house coverage. This person will report to the principal and work in partnership with all school team members. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is energized by challenging work, committed to a career in education long term, and can work collaboratively across lines of difference with an emphasis on cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness.
POSITION FUNCTIONS
Intervention and Instruction
- Provides targeted instruction to small groups of students who struggle to self-regulate in the classroom, using our SEL curriculum (Zones of Regulation, Empowering Education, Miss Kendra)
- Tracks SEL data, from screening information to progress data, including minutes of out-of-class and behavior events
- Adopts and shares the most effective practices with the school team for de-escalating students and proactively addressing dysregulated behavior
- Works hard to be an expert in the SEL curriculum
- Teaches for short bursts of time (20-40 minutes) in small groups; maximizes every second of instruction
Coverage
- Provides subbing coverage when a teacher is out
Progress Monitoring
- Tracks Green Zone data each day so that the school is aware of how many minutes students are spending out of class
- Works with the Assistant Principal to ensure that teachers screen all students for socio-emotional skills three times a year
- Progress monitors students in interventions weekly and shares data with teacher
Classroom Management
- Radiates warmth; is a positive presence when standing in front of students
- Speaks with leadership and confidence
- Creates a safe, predictable environment for students; has high expectations for students
- Values classroom teacher's vision and will support them in implementing it
- Values schoolwide consistency and implementation of the most effective practices; follows school's Common Picture routines, procedures, and expectations
Data Analysis
- Sets and achieves ambitious goals for students in interventions
- Manages and shares data
- Develops data-driven plans every six weeks for small groups and individuals
Professional Development
- Attends all professional development offered by the school, including a 2-week training in August
- Attends coaching meetings, is receptive to frequent observations, and implements feedback
- Is organized and well-prepared for all sessions
- Follows through on next steps from professional development
- Works hard to achieve professional goals
Communication
- Seeks and shares resources with the classroom teacher and principal; asks for feedback regularly
- Advocates for students regularly. Does not allow for time to pass when a student is in need
- Checks and responds to email and phone messages within 24 business hours
- Speaks kindly of others at all times
- Stays solutions-orientated when faced with complex challenges

General Requirements
- Education required: BA/BS degree
Knowledge & Skills
- Outstanding attention to detail and willingness to get the job done
- Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
- Knowledge of Google Suite
- 4-year college degree preferred
COMPENSATION
Salary for this position is very competitive and commensurate with experience.
