    Job Description

    The Producer is a key member of the network’s planning coverage team, helping to coordinate live production and tape of high-profile broadcasts across MSNBC platforms. This includes breaking news events, major political coverage, national ceremonies, award shows, and other significant live moments. The role requires a sharp editorial eye, strong storytelling abilities, and extensive experience producing video packages that support and elevate live broadcasts.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Strong skillset in producing high-profile interviews, location shoots, and event coverage tied to breaking or planned special events.
    • Produce tape elements and obit packages for major political and news figures as well as live coverage plans for funerals.
    • Contribute to overall show production including element production, live segment coordination, and control room execution when needed.
    • Maintain close coordination with Director, senior producer, control room teams, digital platforms, and bureaus to ensure consistent messaging and tone.
    • Assist in coverage planning, including scouting locations, vetting stories.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • At least 5 years of experience in broadcast journalism, preferably at the national network level.
    • Strong editorial judgment and knowledge of political, cultural, and global current events.
    • Excellent writing, scripting, and interviewing skills; adept at adapting tone to suit event type.
    • Proven track record producing and scripting news packages under tight deadlines, including historical retrospectives, explainer pieces, and profiles.
    • Experience with live and taped production workflows; comfortable in edit room and field environments.
    • Proficiency with editing platforms (Avid, Adobe Premiere, or similar) and newsroom systems (iNews, ENPS, Dalet).
    • Ability to handle sensitive, high-pressure events with discretion, speed, and accuracy.
    • Willingness to work long hours, weekends, and travel when needed

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferably in journalism, communications, media production, or related field or equivalent experience.
    • Experience covering elections, inaugurations, memorials, or other national ceremonies.
    • Background in both domestic and international news coverage.
    • Familiarity with social and streaming adaptations of long-form packages.
    • Ability to pitch original concepts for recurring or thematic series tied to major events.

    Salary Range: $93,000 - $110,000
